Mother Gives Birth With Nerf Gun On Hand To Keep Father Awake In Delivery Room

We’ve all seen the romantic movie scenes where couples welcome their first child into the world – the mom is glowing and the dad is nearly as involved in the process as her. In real life, though, things aren’t always so rosy. A lot of the time, moms are frustrated and in severe pain, and the dads are more worried about sitting down to watch television while they wait instead of holding their wife’s hand. One mother, in particular, found a clever life hack to prevent her potentially sleepy partner from nodding off while she gave birth.

Samantha Mravik-Miller knows the reality of birth far too well. Her husband went to the delivery room and went right to sleep after she had given birth to their second son. Not only was Samantha forced to deliver the baby, but she also had to care for him by herself! Her husband slept through the baby crying three nights in a row, and Samantha had to throw a water bottles at him to try and get his attention since she had lost her voice after using oxygen, reports Cafemom.

While Samantha loves her husband, when she became pregnant with her third child she decided that she wasn’t going to let him get off the hook again. This time, she went to the hospital prepared with a Nerf gun in her overnight bag, and he definitely took notice, asking, "Ummm babe ... why is there a Nerf gun in your bag?"

She got the idea when she was cleaning the house before her scheduled c-section and ran across the toy gun. She thought that it might provide a lot better aim than simply trying to toss water bottles at her sleeping husband.

How did her plan work out? Surprisingly enough, it seems that the threat alone was enough to get her husband to shape up. Samantha never had to use the Nerf gun on him and he was attentive to the baby’s needs.

Meanwhile, her Nerf gun managed to bring a lot of humor from the nurses and, after posting a picture of herself loaded and ready to fire the gun, it also went viral online. So far, her post was shared more than 18,000 times and has gotten 9,100 comments. Many women joked that they would need to steal her idea and use it on their own husbands!
