Mom Who Struggled To Become Pregnant For Eight Years Conceives Baby And Twins In The Same Week

Not all women can successfully get pregnant and birth children on their own. Without seeking medical assistance, some couples can actually do more harm than good to themselves in their efforts to conceive. Some couples try to get pregnant for years on end without success.

You won't believe how long this mother tried to get pregnant before finally getting lucky.

From the age of 28, Beata Bienias has very much wanted to get pregnant. Unfortunately, however, she has suffered from polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a disorder of the hormones that ultimately results in women's ovaries failing to release eggs each month like they're supposed to.

Even though Beata knew she had PCOS before she started trying to get pregnant eight years ago, she has still tried to conceive consistently for much of the past decade with her husband.

Doctors specializing in fertility recommended to Bienias, who is now 36 years of age, to lose weight to improve her chances of getting pregnant.

Two years ago, at the age of 34, Beata Bienias broke down and finally decided to enter a clinical weight loss program. After consulting with the doctors mentioned above, she also decided that she and her husband would undergo in-vitro fertilization as a means of improving the chances of getting pregnant.

Although it took her nearly a year to lose enough weight to make IVF worth its costs, Beata finally got her weight down to a "good enough" level.

In-vitro fertilization, or IVF, is a procedure usually reserved for couples who have tried and failed to conceive naturally. It involves having eggs extracted directly from the female's ovaries, being exposed to the sperm donor's sperm, and inserting a fertilized embryo into the female a few days later.

IVF only works about half the time despite costing thousands of dollars on average.

After doctors transferred the artificially-inseminated embryo into Beata's uterus, she and her husband couldn't do anything but wait.

Nine days later, the couple was excited to learn that she was pregnant with a baby!

Two weeks after getting the good news, Beata went to prenatal scan appointment. Doctors peered inside her stomach using ultrasound technology, finding out that Beata already was carrying twins!
