Kelley and her husband Gareth were excited about the impending birth of their baby girl. However, a medical emergency nearly ruined all of their plans when Kelley's heart stopped beating when she was a little over halfway through her pregnancy.

This life-changing experience could have ended poorly but the couple still got their happy ending. Despite not having a heartbeat for such a long time, a miracle was able to save the life of both Kelley and her baby.

The 35-year-old mother from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire in England went into cardiac arrest because of a rare condition that results in an irregular heartbeat as she told The Sun

When she was just a teenager, Kelley was diagnosed with a rare hereditary condition called Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. The syndrome causes Kelley's heart to work abnormally fast. This quick heartbeat causes Kelley to experience dizziness, shortness of breath, and occasional fainting spells.

When she was 23 weeks pregnant, Kelley woke up early in the morning thinking she was having a panic attack. After she collapsed, Gareth called for medical help. Kelly told The Sun:

"If the first responder hadn't arrived when she did, it would have be a whole different story."

Thankfully for Kelley, the responder was able to use a defibrillator to pump Kelley’s chest and re-start her heart.

Precious little Ava was born four months later. The baby girl was healthy, weighing in at 8 pounds and 14 ounces. She shows no signs of having endured any type of trauma while in the womb. Kelley and her family are forever in debt to Stephanie, the first responder, for getting the heart pumping again.

"She saved my life and without her, it's possible neither me nor Ava would be here today," Kelley told The Sun.
