Mom Uses Single Piece Of Paper In Order To Teach Uncomplicated And Powerful Lesson Regarding Bullying

May 20, 2021 by apost team

There's no denying the fact that kids can be incredibly mean and cruel. School bullying scars many people well into adulthood — there are many long-lasting psychological effects of bullying that can lead to anxiety, depression, and isolation years after the bullying ends.

But despite how dangerous bullying can be, many of us have stories from our adolescent years about being the victim of painful bullying. Over the past decade, society has progressed and more schools have cracked down on bullying and mistreatment. However, we still have a long way to go when it comes to eliminating the problem entirely.

One of the issues with getting kids to understand the impact of bullying is that they're growing up by themselves and perhaps don't grasp the weight of what it can do to another human — especially years down the line. But perhaps if they could be taught in a simpler way, they might have a better understanding.

Well, one mother by the name of Diosa might have the right idea about a simplified method to teach kids about the issue. Sharing a video in early May of her teaching her two daughters about what bullying really does to another person, Diosa simply uses a piece of paper to demonstrate the wounds that bullying can inflict on someone. The technique is incredibly simple but surprisingly powerful.

Her video has already made an impact online, where other people have commented that they'll be using her technique to teach their kids too. Let's take a look at her genius approach.

In the video shared on her Instagram channel, Diosa is sitting with her two daughters. She starts off by telling the two girls to "say mean things" to a piece of white paper that she's holding in front of them. She's 100% serious — she wants them to insult the paper. The girls don't hold back as they begin slinging mean slurs directed at the paper. These include:

"You're ugly, you don't have no friends, you're fat, that's why your mom doesn't love you, you smell like dog food," and so on.

What's key is that as they each say one mean thing to the paper, Diosa is crumpling it up bit by bit, in order to demonstrate how the insults can "hurt" the paper. She does this so many times that by the end, the paper is crumpled up into a ball. She then tells her girls that she wants them to apologize to the paper. They do so quite meaningfully and Diosa nods and says "OK," suggesting that she accepts their apologies and that they're truly sorry.

But then the magic comes — she takes the crumpled-up ball of paper and unravels it. Instead of being the clean, fresh, straightened piece of paper it once was, it's now a crumpled and ragged version of its former self. She then asks the girls, "Is it fixed?" They both reply "no" rather sadly, before Diosa explains:

"This is why you don't bully! Understood?"

The girls agree with her in understanding, saying "Yes mom." Diosa's lesson to her daughters is incredibly simple but so effective that even an adult watching might get shivers thinking about how apt her example is.

What's great is that Diosa's message has now spread all over the internet. Captioning the video on her Instagram, Diosa wrote "Bullying awareness spreads." Not only are adults sharing it, but they're stating that they will teach their kids this lesson as well, which is very powerful. One person commented:

"This is an amazing lesson! So simple for kids to understand. I will be doing this with my son and any future kids I may have."

Meanwhile, another person wrote:

"This 🙌 it’s beautiful I had to share with my children it’s the perfect example to show them so thank you"

It's not entirely an accident that Diosa had such a powerful method of teaching her kids — in her Instagram biography, it states that she's a certified life coach and author, as well as an entrepreneur, fashion model and mother. It's clear that she has a natural talent for understanding how to explain big concepts in simple terms so that children and other adults can understand with ease.

In fact, her Instagram page is full of all kinds of self-improvement tips and techniques that she's sharing with her over 11,000 followers. In one recent post, she talks about the most important virtue one can have, which is courage. That's "because without courage you cannot practice any other virtue consistently." Such a simple point but told in an effective and powerful way. Diosa clearly loves sharing her knowledge with her followers and considering her positive message, we could all stand to listen to her words.

What do you think about Diosa's technique for teaching her girls about bullying? Do you know of any similar tips to teach children? If you found this post informative and inspiring the be sure to pass it on to others.
