Domestic abuse is an issue that plagues both men and women in every part of the world.

Domestic abuse is not limited to any race, gender, or social class. According to The National Domestic Violence Hotline, about 24 people a minute become victims to domestic abuse, rape, and stalking by their partner.

For many, domestic abuse can end in severe injury and death. Luckily, the following story has a much better ending.

Cheryl Treadway was a victim of domestic abuse back in May of 2015.

At the time, her boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson, was holding her and her three children hostage inside of their home.

He was quickly becoming more and more agitated and angry as the minutes went by. He even started to carry a knife around the home as he held Cheryl and her children hostage in their home.

During the confusion and horror of the incident, Cheryl realized that her kids were getting hungry.

It was then that she came up with a plan that she prayed would work.

First, she had to talk her boyfriend into letting her order a pizza from her local Pizza Hut. Eventually, he agreed and allowed her to use her own cell phone to place an online order.

Cheryl quickly ordered a pizza using the Pizza Hut phone app.

When she was done, her boyfriend took the phone from her. Luckily, she had been able to accomplish what she had set out to do.

She was trying to get help through the app.

Meanwhile, the employees at her local Pizza Hut received the online order from Cheryl.

However, this wasn’t their normal smartphone order. There was something quite strange about it. In the comment section of the order, Cheryl had written the plea “9-11 hostage help.”

Luckily, the restaurant believed that the woman was in trouble and not just fooling around.

Cindy Hamilton, the manager of the Pizza Hut, stated that they knew something wasn’t right.

She first consulted her boss about the message, who told her to call the emergency number right away.

The police showed up at the house quickly and with no issue. In the end, they arrested Nickerson, who surrendered peacefully.

Cheryl and her children were unhurt, thanks to her super quick thinking.
