Mom & Son Are Reunited 46 Years After He Was Taken Away From Her At The Hospital

A mother should always be a part of her baby’s life from the moment they were born, to their formative years, until they are independent enough to live on their own. However, there are cases in some parts of the world wherein children are being separated from their parents despite their young age.

This is what happened to María del Rosario Rodríguez and her son Mauricio Delgado who got separated for four decades.

According to a report published by Subrayado in 2021, the mom gave birth to her first child whom she named Yamandú at Pereira Rossell Hospital in 1974.

After getting out of the medical facility, Rodríguez decided to go to Lavalleja. 10 months after the baby was born, he became ill and was later admitted to a local health center.

Little did the mother know that it would be the last time in a few decades that she would see her son again as she claimed that he was stolen.

Even though they were separated for a long time, Rodríguez knew that he was still alive.

Later on, the baby was adopted and was later named Mauricio Delgado. It took him 26 years to find out the truth about his identity after his adoptive mother presented documents that revealed that he was indeed adopted.

In an interview with the outlet, Delgado said his childhood was normal as his adoptive parents were able to give him everything that he needed.

However, there was still a question in his head as he wanted to know where he really came from and to meet his biological parents.

Mauricio Delgado sought help from the Mides Adoption Department, and it took them 12 years to find his biological mother.

After an intense search, the mom and son finally reunited with each other on May 28, 2021, 46 years after he was stolen from the health center.

“They took it from me, as if I were a dog, when the puppies are taken away,” Rodríguez told the outlet, translated from Spanish to English.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rodríguez said her son is still her baby even though they were separated for a long time. Although she was excited to meet him again, she regretted that she never got the chance to hear Delgado say “mama” for the first time.

In a video posted by the outlet on their Instagram account, Rodríguez and Delgado appeared to be in good spirits as they gave each other a big hug. In some of the clips, they were seen holding each other’s hands as they never got the chance to bond for decades.

In the post, online users shared their thoughts about the heartwarming reunion of the two, as one wrote, translated into English: “What a very sad story 😢... I ended up crying, but luckily a happy ending👏👏” 

Another commenter commended the mom for staying strong through the years, as they wrote, “❤️ I was shocked by that mother’s strength 💕.”

“congratulations to the whole family but more for that mother who always knew that her son was alive.... That only a mother knows.... 👏👏👏👏👏,” one wrote.
