We’ve all been there, that very public moment when your toddler decides it’s either her way or a screaming fit. Locking horns with a young child who decides to communicate with tears, loud sobs, and stubborn determination are not only exasperating, it can drive a young mother to her own tears.

Children are notorious for throwing tantrums when they can’t get their way and when they do it in public, it is a testament to a parent’s ability to control their own emotions – not always easy.

Massachusetts resident Brianna Lelos was shopping in Wilmington when her daughter became unhappy and threw a tantrum in the middle of a Target store. The toddler sat on the floor and refused to budge.

Naturally, a scene like this can cause embarrassment and humiliation for any parent the minute they realize that other shoppers are stopping to stare. But in this case, a thoughtful employee took notice, and probably sensing Brianna’s frustration, moved swiftly to help defuse the situation.

As described in the Springfield News-Sun, Target employee Lianna sat down on the floor with the little girl until she calmed down enough to be returned to her mother.

Brianna was so grateful for the intervention that she went on Twitter to express her gratitude. She thanked Target for hiring such kind and thoughtful employees and included a picture of Lianna sitting with Brianna’s defiant daughter in the middle of the aisle.

Target responded by tweeting their appreciation of Brianna’s eagerness to alert management about her excellent customer service experience and promised to send her praise on to the Wilmington leadership team. Watch the video below about this lovely story:
