There's nothing better in the summer than a bowl of fresh, juicy strawberries. Unfortunately, it can sometimes seem like strawberries quickly go bad before people even have a chance to eat one! No one likes moldy and mushy strawberries. But a mom has shared the one simple trick they use to keep strawberries fresh and delicious for weeks after customers bring them home from the grocery store: a vinegar bath!

Try this trick the next time you get strawberries and you'll be amazed at how well it works. You'll need white vinegar, bottled water or any kind of drinking water, a mixing bowl, paper towels, and a salad spinner.

First, mix five parts water and one part white vinegar in the large mixing bowl. Place the strawberries in the mixture and leave them there for two to five minutes. While they're soaking, line the salad spinner with paper towels to prepare for the next step.

After letting the berries soak, put them in the salad spinner. Finally, let them dry before putting them back in the refrigerator.

This trick works because the vinegar kills spores on the strawberries, which are a factor in how quickly the strawberries age.

Strawberry experts also say that ensure a long shelf life, it is wise to cut off the stems of the berries and to throw away any strawberries if they start looking bad, so they don't spoil the bunch.

With this simple trick, you'll never have to worry about letting a carton of strawberries go bad again!
