While out picking pumpkins with her kids, she contracted a very infectious disease from a tick. She wants everyone to remember that ticks are a very dangerous threat, especially in the fall months. It's been two years since she was bitten by the tick. She has been battling Rocky Mountain spotted fever ever since. Recently, she posted a photo of her leg on Facebook that is covered in a very bright red rash.

In her post, she warns parents to make sure they are wearing pants and long socks and shoes when having fun with outdoor fall activities. Jennifer also reminded parents to always check for ticks afterward.

This mom from California explained her struggles when she was bitten by a tick. She couldn’t walk and her hair fell out. She was close to death. Two years later, she is still recovering. She blames her use of flip-flops in the fall weather for her tick bite.

Jennifer has nothing against having fun outdoors in the fall. She simply wants others to be aware of the dangers and to take precautions. Cover up and use repellent. Check for ticks real quick when you get home. It's that easy!

Ticks can be found in all states across the United States. The CDC claims ticks are most active in the early fall. To protect yourself, avoid walking in areas with high grass. You should also check your pets so they don’t bring them inside. When you get home from an outdoor outing, put your clothes in the dryer on high heat to kill any of the ticks they could be holding. It also helps to take a shower when you get home and quickly check yourself for ticks.

Ticks can be much more dangerous than people think. They can carry a variety of diseases you will want to avoid. How do you take precautions against them? Let us know in the comments and pass this warning along to protect your friends and family!
