In times of danger, humans can do anything we put our minds to.

Mothers, in particular, have been known to show superhuman strength when it comes to saving their children's lives.

Mothers are truly amazing. A mother in British Columbia is no different.

Chelsea and Kevin Bromley didn't think anything would go wrong when they let their son play in their backyard.

According to KFSN, They had done it numerous times before. Their son, Zach, wasn't far from safety anyway. Unfortunately, a nightmare occurred. A cougar crept up onto their property and attacked the seven-year-old.

Chelsea heard the scene before she saw it. To her horror, she saw the cougar with its jaws clamped on Zach, dragging him away.

Without hesitation, she charged toward the cougar and went to get her son back. She tried prying open the cougar's jaws in order to release her son.

The cougar continued to hold an insanely tight grip onto the child. Chelsea prayed that she could save her son, even if it might mean sacrificing her own life.

After battling the feline, it finally released its grip and fled through the metal fence. Claw marks are visible on the fence where the cougar escaped.

“She’s so selfless,” Kevin Bromley told The Canadian Press. “She had to get its mouth off of Zach.”

Thankfully, Zach only had some gashes on his neck, arms, and head. Otherwise, he was relatively fine. Kevin says his wife was fearless when it came to protecting their child and now reportedly calls her "Mama-bear".
