A fun afternoon in October of 2016 transformed into panic when a Wisconsin family's little boy went missing. He was returned safely after a twenty-hour search. His mom entered the cornfield but the stalks were thick and she could not find her son.

She placed a call to the sheriff’s department and they immediately organized a search. A team consisting of the city fire department, volunteers, two helicopters, rescue dogs and member of the community banded together to find Dyton. As the news spread, in excess of 600 people came because they wanted to help.

The sheriff was confident the child was still in the cornfield and believed he would be found. The corn stalks were so thick the volunteer was practically on top of Dyton before he found him. It took twenty hours to locate the child and he was sitting in the stalks cross-legged.

Tom Andraschko was amazed when he found Dyton. He was happy to see he was safe and sitting up despite looking very scared.

Once Dyton was located, everyone's focus was on his health. He was given snacks and water prior to being taken to the hospital. He was released fairly quickly and although he was scared, wet, and cold he was still in good health. Both the sheriff's department and the family thanked everyone who came to help find the little boy. The sheriff said he has seen many similar situations and was happy it turned out well.

The amount of compassion and caring provided by the community was amazing. They never had to make an announcement that they needed volunteers because so many people showed up to offer assistance. The day ended extremely well for everyone involved.
