Trigger Warning: This story contains the topic of child loss and might be upsetting to some readers.

Whenever couples expect a baby, especially if they tried to conceive for a long time, it is one of the best feelings ever as they have a little bundle of joy along the way. However, when the child doesn’t survive, it is also devastating and heart-wrenching.

This is the unfortunate case of Whitney Quinton and her husband Brett, who suffered the loss of their baby named Ruby-Jo.

According to her story posted in Love What Matters in November 2023, the couple tried to conceive a baby for over six years, so they were overjoyed upon finding out that they were expecting a baby girl.

Prior to that, Whitney had suffered several health issues as she underwent four laparoscopies to remove her endometriosis. In addition, she also had a “terrible miscarriage.”

They were excited during the scan as they found out the gender of their child. However, it took longer than usual, and they later found out that the baby’s heart was in the wrong spot.

Aside from that, she also had a missing kidney, and her long bones were not growing.

The radiologist then told her that she had the option to terminate the pregnancy within the next three weeks.

Following this, she reacted differently, as she recalled: “I let out a scream I didn’t even know I was capable of. I fell to my knees and kept screaming. I immediately had sheets of tears streaming down my face. My husband continued to rub my back while he too wept.”

This was not the only problem the couple faced as Whitney also suffered over the next few weeks, which she described as “hell.”

Since the baby had so many complications, the couple finally decided that neither their daughter nor Whitney should suffer anymore, even though they really wanted the child regardless of her problems. However, their baby’s chance of survival was extremely slim, and her short life would be full of pain.

Whitney later took medication to induce labor, and the baby was delivered in December 2021.

“I woke up and the nurse came to check on me. In my sleep, our daughter, Ruby-Jo, had arrived. The doctor came in to pick up her tiny, 1- pound, lifeless body and I went into complete shock,” Whitney recalled.

The woman was completely shocked as she couldn’t believe what happened, but regardless of what she felt, her husband whispered to her something that she would never forget as those words continued to save her.

She recalled what Brett had told her: “Whits, it’s okay. You did it. She’s finally home and she’s perfect. She’s with our family in Heaven, and she’s not in pain anymore. I am so proud of you.”

Whitney continued to share her story on her Instagram account, and in one post, she shared a photo of herself holding her baby, who didn’t survive.

In the emotional caption, she wrote: “My soul now feels empty, weak, lifeless, fragile, broken and straight up angry. I grieve every day the person I used to be before I got the earth shattering news.”

She also felt heartbroken as her son, Ronan, never got the chance to become Ruby’s big brother.

In another post shared in December 2023, her daughter’s supposed 2nd birthday, a slideshow of pictures during Ruby’s burial was featured in the video.

“Happy birthday sweetheart. Your mom, dad, and big brother love you more than you could ever imagine,” she wrote in the caption.
