Most mothers cannot wait to get out and enjoy a nice day. This is especially true when there is a local swimming pool that your kids can head to in order to cool off. Unfortunately, one Texas mother ended up in tears after a trip to her local swimming pool. The 32-year-old mom was kicked out of the swimming area after she breastfed her infant in public.

Misty Daugereaux was nursing her 10-month-old baby at Nessler Aquatic Center in Texas City, Texas when a lifeguard began "scolding" her for breastfeeding in public according to KHOU 11 News. Misty told the news station, that a pool manager intervened and told her she needed to leave before a police officer showed up.

On the officer's bodycam footage obtained by ABC 13 Houston Misty can be seen visibly upset by the ordeal. "When you have a ten-month-old who doesn't take a bottle, I'm going to feed him. I'm not being disrespectful, I'm not trying to cause a scene but I'm going to feed my baby," the mom can be heard saying on the video. In the end, the police officer asked Misty to leave as well. The pool manager and lifeguard claimed on the video that Misty had been using foul language towards them and had both her breasts out while nursing.

Misty's posted her story on social media where it went viral. Many mothers came to Misty's defense sending their apologies the incident occurred. Texas state law says a mother is entitled to breast-feed her baby in any location in which the mother is authorized to be. Texas City officials released a statement addressing the incident:

"We, the City of Texas City are reviewing the nursing concerns raised at the Nessler Pool and how it was addressed by our staff. We apologize to Misty Daugereaux as it is clear she was offended by how she was treated at our City Facility. City policies and procedures will be reviewed and revised as deemed necessary. Any deficiencies regarding our employee's actions will be addressed with further training."

As Misty's story continued to gain traction, a group of mothers decided to give a demonstration at Nessler Aquatic Center. Mothers gathered at the pool with their own children and said they hoped to normalize breastfeeding in public as it is legal in all states including Texas. "I cannot imagine so much support that I got from moms from not even in Texas from moms living out of state," Misty told KHOU 11 News.
