Mom Learns She’s Expecting Very Rare ‘Spontaneous Quads’ — 2 Sets Of Identical Twins

Jul 14, 2022 by apost team

Having a baby comes with many emotions. At first, most expecting parents are absolutely thrilled to find out that they will be having a precious bundle of joy. However, as the time for the baby's arrival gets closer and closer, more work needs to be done, like setting up the nursery, stocking up on diapers, and so on.

Now, take all of that responsibility and times it by four because that is exactly what mom Ashley Ness had to do after finding out that she was expecting not one but two sets of identical twins. That’s right, this mom — who already has four children with her husband from previous relationships — is now set to add four more bundles of joy to her life.

According to Healthline, about one in 250 pregnancies result in twins naturally. Identical twins are even rarer, as about three or four in every 1,000 births results in this set of twins. The fact that Ness discovered that she was pregnant with two sets of identical twins — one set of boys and one set of girls — is even rarer and is truly a phenomenon.

Ness is from Taunton, Massachusetts, and has been through some ups and downs regarding her personal life. She previously struggled to conceive and sadly suffered a few losses. However, after going in for a standard ultrasound examination in February 2022, Ness was met with the biggest surprise of her life when she learned that she would be having quadruplets. Come late summer 2022, this family of six is set to become a family of 10.

When Ness found out that she was pregnant with two sets of twins back in February 2022, she wasn’t the only one who was surprised. According to Good Morning America, even the sonographer had to leave the exam room to ensure that what she saw was real.

“She starts the scan back up, and she’s like, ‘You’re having four,’” Ness recalled. “I said, ‘I’m sorry. What?’”

In June 2022, Ness posted a photograph of the sonogram to her Instagram with the caption: “The day I found out I was having spontaneous quads, a day full of so many emotions, worries and excitement.”

Ness and her boyfriend Val already have four children aged 7 to 24 and are “really excited” about their growing family. It’s something that means a lot to Ness as she encountered some losses in her personal life.

“I had a very hard time conceiving my daughter and I’ve had miscarriages in the past,” she explained. “So I feel like to be able to be blessed with something so big is so amazing.”

Ness continued: “I did miscarry previously four times and so my grandmother actually passed away back in January so when I conceived, it was right before my grandmother had passed away, too. So I feel as if it was almost like a gift from her, like sending back the losses that I had. That’s truly how I do feel.”

Ness told GMA that although her due date is October 2022, doctors told her she’d be delivering in August since her pregnancy is considered high-risk. And she already has her four future babies’ names picked out – Chelsey and Chatham for the girls and Chance and Cheston for the boys. There is also a GoFundMe for Ness.
