For children with a parent in the military, it's sometimes difficult to participate in activities after school or try to be one of the kids who act like everything is normal. These children want the parent who is away to be at special events and to be at home to enjoy holidays as well as nightly meals with the family. When there is a special event like a school dance or a competition, the absence of the parent is felt even more.

When a parent leaves home to defend the country, children are told about the sacrifices that are made. They know that it's a job that needs to be done and that the job often takes the parent away from home for extended periods of time.

Addie Rodriguez got the surprise of her life while she was cheering at one of her school's games. The nine-year-old wanted her father to watch her cheer more than anything in the world because he had missed so many special moments in her life. The squad was cheering on the sidelines, something that they usually didn't do for games.

The reason behind cheering on the sidelines was because the girls had included the fathers in the performance. Addie's father wasn't there to cheer with her. The fathers were lifting their daughters onto their shoulders during the routine, something that Addie missed terribly.

Addie's father had just left the previous day to go to California so that he could get ready for another deployment. Addie's mother was watching her from the stands and noticed that her daughter was struggling a bit during the routine.

The mother's heart was breaking because she knew that her daughter wanted her father there so much. Within moments, a young man jumped over the fence to save the day.

Watch as a teenager steps in to fill the empty space left by Addie's father so that she wouldn't feel alone on the field. Have you ever experienced an act of kindness from a stranger? Tell us your experience in the comments below and pass this on to others!
