Mom Goes Viral After Inventing Seat Belts That Alert Emergency Services

Although some inventions take decades to create, others come from an instantaneous stroke of genius from the most unbelievable places. In this case, one mother named Natalie Bell, who lives in Australia with her family, came up with the most brilliant idea that could potentially save many lives and help first responders.

Telling Studio 10 News, Natalie spoke about how her idea came to life. After Natalie's daughter had a cochlear implant inserted she could not receive MRI's anymore. That got Natalie thinking about what would happen if they were in a car accident and she wasn't able to tell first responders that her daughter could not receive an MRI.

This thought prompted her to come up with the most genius way to let them know if anything ever happened to them. But Natalie could not have ever expected the response that she would receive from her brilliant idea. So amazing, in fact, that it went viral.

Natalie came up with the idea to create seatbelt covers that display the health issues of that person to first responders or emergency workers who are brought to the scene of an accident. That way the responders know immediately the medical conditions or history of that person. She owns a business that she named ’Personalized By Nat' where she handcrafts items for parents and their children, so her idea for the seatbelt covers wasn't too far from her everyday work.

On June 5th, Bell decided to take her invention public with a post on her Facebook account. She wrote about her motivation for creating the items, detailing her daughter’s health condition and explaining the need for such a unique yet straightforward item.

Natalie wrote on the post, "I always wonder what would happen if I was in a car accident with my daughter in the car and I was unable to let the doctors know that my daughter could not have an MRI due to having a cochlear implant, now I don’t need to worry about that with these seat belt covers."

They can be displayed on multiple types of straps, including the child’s backpack. Natalie's daughter is deaf, so her personal cover warns medical personnel of this condition, but these covers can be handmade to fit any sort of conditions that your child has, including Down syndrome, diabetes, or other important medical needs.

Natalie said since the post has gone viral there has been an outpour of people saying what other good things these seat belt covers could do.

"Just a ray of things people are now actually starting to think about," she said to Studio 10 News adding, "I'm getting so many ones personalized -- anything that you think is needed can go on these."

The seat belt covers are available on Natalie's website for only $15. They feature bright and eye-catching text over a white background, so they are easy to read and won’t be overlooked.

This mother has created a simple invention that can save the lives of children all around the world! What do you think about this innovation? Do you know anyone who would need these strap covers? Send them this article so they can benefit from this invention.
