Joni Gatlin was only 15 weeks pregnant when doctors noticed that something might be amiss with her pregnancy. During a routine ultrasound, the doctors noticed unusual fluid surrounding the baby. However, nothing would have prepared Joni or her doctors for the extent of this condition.

Baby Madison was born in Crestview, Florida looking very different to what Joni was expecting her little girl to look like. While Madison looked normal below the waist, she appeared to be extremely muscular from the waist up.

It took doctors months of testing to finally diagnose Madison with a progressive overgrowth disorder known as CLOVES syndrome. This rare condition is the result of a gene mutation that leads to the buildup of excess lymphatic fluid beneath the arms and the chest.

At only 18 months old, Madison has had to endure a mass in her right arm that weighed approximately five pounds, reports the Metro. The doctors think that the mass will continue to grow as Madison gets bigger.

Although the medical experts were not certain that Madison would even survive, she has continued to defy the expectations. That said, her appearance sadly generates judgments and rude remarks from strangers. To learn more about Madison's condition, be sure to watch the video of this precious girl.

After you have watched the clip about Madison, be sure to spread the awareness of CLOVES syndrome to everyone else in your network. It is important that people understand how their judgment affects the feelings of others. This video is a great reminder of how we can be more accepting of everyone, despite the physical challenges that make them different.
