Mom Cries In Parking Lot After Her Nonverbal Autistic Daughter Speaks 1st Word

Nov 06, 2018 by apost team

To most people, Briana Blankenship's daughter looks like any other five-year-old girl. Unlike other children, Taylor is on the autism spectrum. She was diagnosed as nonverbal, so her parents know that they can never expect her to speak to them. Taylor can understand some of what they say, but she cannot tell her parents how she is thinking or feeling.

A Miracle Happens

Because of Taylor's diagnosis, Briana never expected to hear her daughter say anything at all. One day, Briana had an incredible surprise. She was just going through the McDonald's drive thru when Taylor suddenly said the word, “Mama.”

Briana could not believe it. She started crying in the drive-through as her daughter repeated the same word again. The McDonald's workers probably thought she was crazy, but she could not help the tears that fell down her face. As people behind her became annoyed because Briana was not moving forward, she recorded her daughter's first words.

The doctors had told her that there was no hope. Briana did not believe that her daughter would ever be able to say a single word. In one amazing moment, Briana was blessed with something she had never expected to happen. While most parents expect their child's speech to naturally develop, Briana had never been able to even hope for such a thing. Now, she is unbelievably proud, ecstatic and grateful.
