Mom Continues To Fight For Her Life After She Was Diagnosed With Brain Cancer And Refused To Abort Her Baby

Expecting a baby is one of the most amazing things that can happen to a mother as the journey of pregnancy is intimate and secures a bond between the parents and their future baby.

However, things weren’t easy for a woman named Tasha Kann who was diagnosed with a tragic medical condition back when she was carrying her unborn child.

The mom spoke in an interview with Fox News in September 2023 where she shared her journey.

It all began in 2021 when Kann thought she was experiencing a migraine. At the time, she decided to rest it out and wait for her headache to go away, but a tingling sensation in her arms and legs rendered her immobile. The young mom was able to ask for help and called 911 immediately as she thought she was having a stroke.

Kann underwent a CT scan which revealed that she had a large brain mass. She was 20 weeks pregnant at the time when doctors told her that she had an anaplastic astrocytoma grade III, which is a form of malignant tumor.

When she found out about her diagnosis, Kann said she was scared, but she never lost hope as she needed to be strong for her unborn child.

Unfortunately, medical experts told her to abort her baby in order for her to get treatment for her brain cancer. She immediately opposed the idea of ending her pregnancy as she said, "I told them absolutely not.”

"They all looked at me and told me my best chances of survival would be to get an abortion and start treatment immediately — which might give me five to eight years of survival," she added.

One of the main reasons why she didn’t want to abort her baby was because of her faith as she told the outlet that it was never an option because “it goes against God’s will.”

Fortunately, her scans were normal throughout her pregnancy, and she recalled being “disgusted” with the doctors as they continued to advise her to get an abortion.

"If the cancer was already as bad as they said, killing my baby wouldn’t have saved me anyway," she added.

As someone who used to work as a hospice nurse, Kann said she witnessed how medications and chemotherapy took a toll on many patients, so she knew that it would be a “no” for her.

Kann decided to do her own research as she kept her baby alive in her womb. She later changed her diet to a Keto-like one and would always incorporate light physical activity on a daily basis.

Months later, Kann welcomed her baby girl named Gracey in October 2022. The little girl was her second child as she already had a son named Deklan.

After the baby was born, doctors predicted that the mom only had eight months to live. She continued fighting for her life until it was later found out that her cancer had spread and was later classified as Gliomatosis Cerebri, an aggressive tumor that targets the central nervous system.

As of 2023, Kann still refused to receive chemotherapy, but instead, sought out alternative immunotherapy at a cancer treatment center in Houston, Texas. Initially funded by her family's retirement savings, her treatment began in June 2023 as revealed by her GoFundMe page. As of September 2023, her fundraising page has already amassed more than $320,000 out of its $350,000 goal.
