MLB Prospect Honors Late Wife With Birthday Tribute Almost Two Months After Her Death: 'I Miss You'

Tampa Bay Rays pitching prospect Blake Bivens wrote a heartbreaking message on what would have been his wife's 25th birthday. Bivens lost his 14-month-old son, wife, and mother-in-law in a tragic shooting two months ago.
In August of this year, Bivens' life was shaken to its very core. It was then that wife, Emily; his 14-month-old son, Cullen; and his mother-in-law, Joan Bernard, were murdered. To make the tragedy even more compelling was the fact the brother-in-law has been charged with all three murders according to Boston 25 News.

With the MLB season over for the Rays and their minor league affiliates, Bivens has time to reflect on his love for and marriage to Emily. This past week was Emily's birthday and Bivens paid a touching tribute to his deceased wife on what would have been a very important day in her life.
In a touching Instagram post, Bivens shared this tribute: “Happy 25th Birthday in heaven, baby! I thank God every day for letting me have you for a short time. Your love and kindness has impacted so many people.”
He then added, “I miss you so much. Give our little pooh bear a kiss for me. I love you both so much and can’t wait to see you again.”
Along with this touching tribute, he also included pictures and a video of him, his wife and their beautiful baby boy Cullen. This isn't the first time Bevins has posted about the tragedy and his emotions on social media.
In late September, he in fact took the time to address all three victims with individual tributes. While each tribute was more emotional and moving than the one preceding it, it was the following words that moved people all over the world.
Bivens posted the following: “Two days ago my heart was turned to ash. My life as I knew it is destroyed. The pain my family and I feel is unbearable and cannot be put into words. I shake and tremble at the thought of our future without them.”
It's noteworthy that Bivens was drafted by the Rays in 2014 and this past season playing with the organization's Double-A Montgomery Biscuits.
Our hearts go out to Blake and his family at this time. Help spread the news about Blake's tragedy so others can support him.
