Puppies are a wonder to watch. They are exploring a whole new world, while growing up so quickly. Despite being canines, puppies are surprisingly similar to human children in many ways.

Tracy, a woman in California found this out when she decided to film her new puppy, Kali, with her older female German shepherd according to The Daily Mail. Her older female took on the role of adoptive mother pretty quickly. The video captured a few moments that illustrate the relationship of a mother and her child.

In the video, the older dog is lying down and relaxing on the family's wooden porch. Kali is right next to her, full of energy and playing with his ball. He trips over his bed while he runs across the porch chasing the ball. That's when the mama dog decides it's time for the little pup to take a nap. She gets up and starts walking towards the pup. When she gets to him, she pulls him over and gets his attention. Then, using her muzzle, she guides tiny Kali back towards the bed.

In bed, Kali rolls over on his side, while mama gently strokes him with her paw. She also licks him lightly. Looking at the scene, it's easy to picture a human mom stroking an infant to help him go to sleep.

Once Kali settles down, mama dog returns to her original spot to relax again. Hopefully, Kali will give her a few moments of calm and quiet. Kali has other plans though. At the end of the video, he pops his head up and starts playing with a nearby chew toy.

Puppies have a whole new world to explore. They want to play all the time and go on adventures to see the exciting things the world has to offer. Add in a lot of energy and you can see why it might be difficult to get them to take a nap. This clip shows that even a puppy needs the firm paw of a mama dog to keep them in line. Naps are what keep energy levels high for more exploring. Animal mothers can share some of the same struggles as their human counterparts. Trying to get a little one down for a nap is a very relatable struggle for both.
