Christmas just doesn't seem like Christmas without the tree. But a tree is sometimes a problem for families spending the holiday season far away from home.

Wahmhoff Farm Nursery in Gobles, Michigan is making sure this is not a problem for military families. Volunteers of the farm are donating hundreds of trees to military personnel and their families to celebrate Christmas.

Dan Wahmhoff said in an interview that it fills him with joy to be able to give the families a sense of being home for the holidays.

The farm holds a Trees for Troops event each year. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers six hundred trees will soon arrive at the marine base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Dan thanked the volunteers for the show of support for troops. He specifically commended the willingness of volunteers to brave inclement weather to support the event.Dan says the first event was held in 2005.

Dan explains that his farm is only one of the farms taking part in the tree giveaway. Dan says his farm is centrally located in Michigan so other farms in the state send their trees to him.

Once the trees reach Dan's farm, the trees are packaged into bundles and loaded from transport. FedEx takes care of the expenses to transport the trees 890 to the marine base in North Carolina.

Dan says he feels good to be in a position to give back to military personnel who make such sacrifices for the benefit of the American people.
