Michelle Obama Talks About Prince Harry And Prince George In Interview

Dec 27, 2019 by apost team

Michelle Obama once told a story in an interview that revealed the close bond between Prince Harry and his nephew Prince George.

Prior to his rumored spat with his brother Prince William, Prince Harry was said to be very close to Prince George's family. He'd often spontaneously visit their apartment in Kensington Palace and sometimes would even raid their fridge for snacks.

In the ITV documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, Prince Harry admitted he and his brother have good and bad days and they struggle to retain any kind of relationship due to their busy schedules and constant travel. Royal family fans were wondering if this breakdown between the two had affected Prince Harry's close relationship with Prince William's eldest child, Prince George.

Michelle's adorable story

Michelle Obama's story about the two revealed that Prince Harry was a wonderful uncle to then 3-year-old Prince George. She had witnessed their interactions during her visit with her husband to Kensington Palace in 2016. She revealed this story during an interview two days later at the launch of Harry’s Invictus Games. She said to Robin Roberts of Good Morning America:

“I have to say that the most precious thing – if you haven’t already fallen in love with him [motioning to Harry] is to see him with his nephew."

Prince Harry and Prince George are rarely seen together at public appearances. According to royal experts Kaitlin Menza and Lisa Ryan, as they explained on the podcast Royally Obsessed in 2018, as quoted in The Sun, this is because the royal family doesn't want to remind people of the fact that Prince Harry had at that point never been married or produced children. They said:

"[This] is not because of tension with a five-year-old, I think it was on purpose because Harry was single and they didn’t want him like ‘poor old spinster Harry playing with a baby on the grass’, but we never see that.

Prince Harry has spoken about his nephew Prince George and his niece Princess Charlotte with great affection. He told The Daily Mail in 2017, two years after Princess Charlotte was born, that:

“The reason I am now fifth [in the succession line] is because of my nephew and niece and I could never wish them away......They are the most amazing things ever."

Recent changes

Prince Harry recently married Meghan Markle, and they had a child of their own in May 2019, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. It seems unlikely their child will spend much time with Prince William's children since Prince Harry and his wife moved to Windsor’s Frogmore Cottage while Prince William and his family continue to live in Kensington Palace.
