Michelle Obama Challenged James Corden To A Dodgeball Game, And Of Course, Things Got Crazy

The United Kingdom might have faced one or two challenges from the United States in the past (hello Boston tea party), but they were nothing compared to what happened last night on national television: Michelle Obama and James Cordon facing off in an epic dodgeball challenge for the ages.

In a follow-up to her Carpool Karaoke appearance on Cordon’s “The Late Late Show”, former First Lady Michelle Obama returned once again to share a car ride with the host. This time, the two dove into a feud that snowballed into an all-out UK vs USA fight.

James claimed that UK music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones was better, but Michelle retorted by namedropping the greats, Prince and Stevie Wonder. Then the subject moved to sports. To settle the dispute, they did what any grown adult would do: challenge each other to a game of dodgeball.

Michelle called up her friends and formed an elite roster of athletes for Team USA—Lena ‘Wildcard’ Waithe, Kate ‘Hacksaw’ Hudson, Allison ‘Uncanny’ Janney, Melissa ‘Neva Missa’ McCarthy, and Mila ‘Killer’ Kunis. Obama had nothing but faith in her team and said, “Let's just say, this team is going to eat them for breakfast...the most important meal of the day.”

As Michelle and her team geared up to play, she not only gave them one of the best pep talks of 2019, but also some great advice.

"When they go low, we also go low... because that’s how dodgeball works,” she told Team USA.

James ‘Hot Potato’ Corden got his Brit pals together that included Harry ‘Sign of the Crimes’ Styles, Benedict ‘The Claw’ Cumberbatch, John ‘Hurt You Badly’ Bradley, and...American musician Reggie ‘Windmill’ Watts? As the bandleader for “The Late Late Show,” he was called upon to help out the team and donned a Harry Potter scarf, and a blazer just so he could appear more British.

The red white and blue vs. red white and blue battle raged on for three rounds with only one team emerging as the winner. Watch the video below to find out who it was and how they celebrated. In the end, the hilarious skit rose awareness for healthy exercise and kept us entertained along the way.

When was the last time you played dodgeball? Do you know people who still play? Pass this on to them and give a little inspiration today.
