Michael Jordan has recently said that he will be donating $1 million in aid to the Bahamas after the islands were rocked by Hurricane Dorian. The announcements comes after reports and images have shown the disastrous destruction in the Bahamas.

In a statement released by his rep, basketball legend Michael Jordan says he is "devastated" after seeing current images from the Bahamas. "I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently," Jordan said.

He added, "My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones." To help with relief Jordan said:

"As the recovery and relief efforts continue, I will be tracking the situation closely and working to identify non-profit agencies where the funds will have the most impact."

"...The Bahamian people are strong and resilient and I hope that my donation will be of help as they work to recover from this catastrophic storm."

So far the death toll has climbed to 50 in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian hit the country last week, according to MSNBC. College student Kristoff Strachan on Grand Bahama told the news outlet, "The situation is pretty dire here, it's just a lot of people trying to get out."

Other stars like Tyler Perry, Luke Walton, Buddy Hield, Ludacris and more are also sending relief to the islands, according to The Daily Mail.
