Paris Jackson may be only 28 years old, but she has already accomplished a great deal in her life. Although she has some incredibly famous family members, she did her best to stay out of the spotlight until needed. Since then, she has taken the entertainment industry by storm, trying out various career paths, including modeling, acting, and performing. It’s no surprise that she has so many talents since her father was the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson.

Michael continues to be regarded as one of the most iconic figures in music history. Born in Gary, Indiana, just outside Chicago, his career began at a young age when he joined a musical ensemble with his siblings. The group showed off their beautiful harmonies and stunning singing voices. Michael was instantly a star, captivating audiences with his sweet yet strong vocals and impeccable dance moves.

His daughter has taken the world by storm with her talents, as well as her love for activism and sustainability. Paris has worked to master her craft while creating a platform to help spread awareness about topics important to her. She has been working to find her place in the entertainment industry, navigating the large shadow cast by her famous father.

While he may no longer be in her life today, Michael had a positive impact on his daughter and helped her grow into the bright young woman she is today. He always accepted her for who she was, even when she was still trying to figure it out.
In a 2021 interview with Willow Smith, Paris detailed what she went through after her father’s death. She summoned her strength while talking about her father’s death and the challenges she faced, leading to where she is right now.

Michael’s only daughter, Paris, has found success in the entertainment industry. She signed a contract with IMG Models in March 2017 and made her acting debut with a guest-starring role on the television show “Star” around the same time. Paris made her film debut in 2018 with a role in “Gringo.” Now, Paris is putting her inherited musical talents to good use by performing, releasing her debut album, “Wilted,” in 2020, as well as three singles in 2022 and 2023, and singing with the band The Soundflowers.

During an interview with Rolling Stone in January 2017, Paris opened up about how she coped with losing her father when she was 11 years old and how she carries his legacy with her today. At the time, Paris had 50 tattoos, with nine dedicated to her late father.

“He’s brought me nothing but joy,” Paris explained, “so why not have constant reminders of joy?”

Paris again paid tribute to her beloved father on what would have been his 65th birthday on Instagram. A video posted on Aug. 29, 2023, showed Paris sitting down in front of a camera in a dressing room after a performance. She began by saying:

“So today is my dad’s birthday. And back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a ‘Happy Birthday’, celebrating it – nothing like that. He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was, because he didn’t want us to throw a party, or anything like that.”

She continued by lamenting that “social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days and if you don’t wish someone a ‘Happy Birthday’ via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, that you don’t care about them.”

Paris went on to say in the video that “people lose their f— minds” and “tell me to kill myself” in the past when she failed to acknowledge Michael’s birthday on social media.

“They’re basically telling me that I don’t love my own father, based on what I post on Instagram – so I made you guys a little video and I hope you enjoy it,” Paris said before a clip of her addressing the audience at a performance began to play.

On the stage, Paris declared, “It’s also my dad’s birthday. And he would have been 65 years old today, and he put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here on stage in front of you and scream into a microphone. So, I owe everything to him.”

When the clip ended, the video cut back to Paris in the dressing room, where she had a few words to share with those who identified as “MJ superfan,” urging them to direct their efforts toward charitable causes her father had shown interest in, rather than slamming others online.

“These were things that he loved and was very interested in. I can’t speak for him, because I’m a different person and I don’t know, but I’m sure he would have loved that. So if you want to pay homage and honor him on his birthday, that would be my suggestion,” she remarked at the end of her video.

Fans were quick to back and laud Paris, with one comment reading, “You’re a Total Class Act! He’d be Super Proud,” while another user wrote, “It’s very clear he loved his kids and his kids continue to love and honor him in the work they do ❤️❤️”

In an in-depth conversation with Smith on the Red Table Talk, Paris opened up that her father’s day “just happened” when she was still 11 years old.

“I was so young that I wasn’t conscious of ‘I’ve gotta keep going’,” she explained. “I was just going through the motions and didn’t really understand what was happening, and so I just went with what I was told to do and, ‘Okay, I’m living here now, okay, I’m going to school now and I’m not home-schooled anymore, I’ll just do what I’m told.’”

Paris, along with her other siblings, Prince and Blanket, was taken in by their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, a devout Jehovah’s Witness, who completely turned their lives around.

At the time, Paris admitted that she didn’t receive “much guidance,” but that doesn’t erase the fact that she still loves them.

“I’m still very close with my brothers, and I see my family during family reunions and I tell them all the time, ‘If you wanna call me, call me. I’ve got love and respect for all you guys’,” she said, elaborating, “I just saw my cousins for Thanksgiving and Christmas, even though we don’t call it that because a lot of them are Jehovah’s Witnesses (who don’t celebrate holidays or birthdays), so we’re just like’ family reunion during the holidays.”

At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Paris stunned everyone when she covered up all of her 80 tattoos to highlight her fashion choice during Music’s Biggest Night.

“I love my tattoos, I love my piercings, I love all the body modification stuff, art, and also sometimes I don’t want it to distract from the art that is the fashion I’m wearing,” she told USA Today. “And it gives the dress it’s own moment, you know?”
