Michael J. Fox has been a constant inspiration to many for the courage and strength that he has consistently shown since the start of his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Despite the challenges that came his way, Fox made it through everything because of the love and support that his family has given him, his wife and children included. That’s why Fox makes sure to let the whole world know his love for his children, including on their birthdays. Just like when his twin daughters celebrated their birthdays in February 2023, Fox proved that he is indeed a family man!
Fox is a beloved actor who's been in the spotlight since the 1980s. Despite his tragic Parkinson's disease diagnosis in the early '90s, while he was only 29, Fox has had the support of his wife and fellow actress Tracy Pollan through it all. Although the couple was faced with Fox's health diagnosis early in their relationship, they not only stuck it out together, but they have also proven just how loving and supportive a marriage can be in the face of major life struggles.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in 1961, Fox took an interest in acting early on in his life, and after filming the Canadian sitcom "Leo and Me," he headed off to Los Angeles in 1979 to make it big. Clearly, the folks in LA could see the potential in him, because before long, he was cast as Alex P. Keaton in "Family Ties," which ran from 1982–1989.
It was on the set of the series that Fox first met his would-be wife Pollan — their characters even played on-screen romantic interests.

However, since both were in relationships at the time, they wouldn't begin dating until later on. In the meantime, Fox's career only continued to rise, and by the mid-'80s, he was a star and teen idol, appearing in movies such as the "Back to the Future" franchise and "Teen Wolf."
Not long after, Fox and Pollan reunited on the set of their 1988 movie "Bright Lights, Big City," and finally, their love blossomed. They dated for just seven months before getting engaged on Dec. 26, 1987. They were married the following year on July 16, 1988, at the West Mountain Inn in Arlington, Vermont.
However, Pollan has since revealed that she didn't take an instant liking to Fox — in fact, she didn't really like him at all! Thankfully, their love was meant to be, and they've since stood the test of time and are set to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in July 2023.
One year after getting married, in 1989, Michael and Tracy welcomed their first child, a son named Sam. But before they could continue their family, Michael received the devastating diagnosis that he had Parkinson's disease in 1991. He didn't go public with the news immediately and instead continued working throughout the '90s, appearing in another hit show, “Spin City.”
By 1995, the family of three had grown to a family of five, after the arrival of twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler. A few years later, in 1998, Michael went public with his Parkinson's diagnosis and semi-retired from acting in 2000, as his symptoms became worse.

The following year another daughter was born, Esmé, turning their already large family into an even bigger one.
Despite Fox’s condition, his children have always been there to support him through and through. But it is simply touching to know how much of a support Tracy has been for Michael over the years, and undoubtedly their four beautiful children are as well. Both parents frequently post family pictures on their Instagram feeds, including holidays overseas together, as well as local everyday things like going for walks.
In February 2023, Fox did not miss out on celebrating the birthday of his twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler – and yes, he made sure to share it on social media, where he let the whole world know how special his two daughters are to him.
Alongside photos of special moments with his two beautiful daughters, Fox wrote:
“Weeeeeeeeeeee! Happy Birthday Aquinnah and Schuyler, you guys live your best lives X 2! Love, Dood.”
Pollan, also a proud parent to their two daughters, also greeted them by sharing nostalgic photos as well as recent ones to mark the special day of the two people close to her heart whom she described as “beautiful humans.”
“Happy birthday to these two beautiful humans! I could not love you more and I hope you have a fantabulous day!” Pollan said.
Not only have Michael and Tracy defied the common course for couples in Hollywood, but they're also living their best lives as a strong family unit and are undoubtedly inspiring many others, too.
