Michael Douglas is just the latest star to come forward criticizing the string of parents who were found to have bribed their children’s way into college. Douglas opened up about his own son’s learning disability in school but pointed at that his 19-year-old worked hard to get into an Ivy League college based on his own merit.

“Full House” star Lori Loughlin and “Desperate Housewives” actor Felicity Huffman are just a few of the high profile names that have come out in the scandal. Huffman recently arrived at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California to begin serving her 14-day prison sentence for her part in the scandal. The actress pleaded guilty to having paid  $15,000 to a charity that facilitated helping her daughter cheat on her SATs.

Loughlin on the other hand is choosing to fight the charges pressed on she and her husband fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli. Prosecutors claim Loughlin and Giannulli paid half a million dollars to a fake charity to have their two daughters accepted into the University of Southern California. The daughters were positioned to look like crew recruits even though both of them have never rowed.

Michael Douglas spoke to US Weekly about the scandal saying, “It’s just egregious.” The 75-year-old believes families used bribes to get their children into college to help maintain a certain public reputation.

“The humiliation that these well-to-do families are suffering is that there’s no sympathy from their peer group,” Douglas said. “Kind of just crazy. Just crazy. I think it was as much about the self-image for the parents as it was for the kids.”

Even though Douglas is among A-list celebrities, he comments about how his 19-year-old son, Dylan, had to work hard to get into college.

“Dylan had serious dyslexic issues,” Douglas said. “He had to go to special schools early on. He worked really hard, and the fact that he worked himself up to get into an Ivy League school, I’m just so proud of him.”

Dylan began attending Brown University last year.
