Michael Douglas And Catherine Zeta-Jones Share Photos Of Kirk Douglas Thanking Fans For Their Support

Kirk Douglas, one of the last remaining actors of the Golden Age of Hollywood, has passed away on February 5, at the remarkable age of 103 in his Beverly Hills. 

His son Michael Douglas announced the tragic news on his Instagram with a loving tribute to his dad:

"It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to."

4 days after his father’s death, Michael Douglas shared another photo of his father: a sweet shot of the father-son duo in which Michael is kissing his father on the head and Kirk is giving a big smile. Michael captioned the post with:

“Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words,” he wrote to thank his fans. “Our family is so grateful for your support and we send our love to everyone!”

Michael's wife and Kirk's daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta-Jones also sent out a loving post on Instagram expressing her gratitude towards everyone who sent love to their family.

“Michael joins me in thanking you all for your overwhelming love, kind words and prayers since the passing of my father in law Kirk,” she wrote. “My whole family appreciated every word. Love to you all.”

After hearing about Kirk’s death, many celebrities have paid tribute to Hollywood legend sharing their own stories about Kirk and expressing their condolences.

On Sunday night, the night of the Oscars, Kirk was also honored during the “In Memoriam” segment of the ceremony next to Kobe Bryant, Doris Day and other legends and icons who passed away during the previous year.
