Meteorologist Asked To "Cover Up" Live On Air

Meteorologist Liberté Chan was in the middle of her weather forecast report when her co-anchor handed her a cardigan to "cover up", saying the station received complaints about her "skimpy" dressing.

"We've been getting a lot of emails." That was the reply Liberté Chan received from her co-anchor when she asked him why she needed to put on a cardigan.

But that's not all – this all went down during a live telecast in 2016. That's right: live.

According to TODAY, the first dress that Liberté chose to wear for her broadcast was a little see-through, which doesn't work with green screens.

She then opted for her back-up outfit, a black beaded dress with a fringe ends.

She proceeded to put on the grey cardigan and continued with the weather report. She even went the extra step and tied the ends of the outerwear to a knot to cover up more skin.

Since the broadcast, people have taken to social media to express their disdain about the incident. One twitter user wrote, "In the history of news, has a man been asked to change clothes – on air – because viewers were unhappy with what he was wearing? @KTLA"

A day later, Liberté cleared the air with a blog post.

"For the record, I was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater," she wrote on her website. "I was simply playing along with my co-anchor’s joke, and if you’ve ever watched the morning show, you know we poke fun at each other all the time." She went on to insist there's "no controversy at KTLA".

"Since talking to my team, I want our viewers to know it was never our intention to offend anyone," she added. "We are friends on and off the air and if you watch our newscast, you know that."
