There have been many notable actors throughout the history of Hollywood, but some stories about particular actors touch our hearts more fondly than others. The inspirational man named Meshach Taylor had a career that spanned through decades. Many remember him fondly for his iconic roles in shows such as ‘Designing Women,’ the ‘Mannequin’ series, ‘Dave’s World,’ and ‘Buffalo Bill.’

He even appeared on the popular television show ‘Criminal Minds.’ Playing everything from an ex-con to a deputy throughout his career, Taylor is remembered fondly by all that knew him even years after his death.

Taylor married his wife Bianca Ferguson in 1983 and remained married to her until his death in 2014. Taylor was not only an actor and a husband but a father as well. He left behind four beautiful children with Ferguson, named Tamar, Esme, Yasmine, and Tariq.

During his life as an actor and family man, Taylor was unfortunately diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Naturally, the diagnosis devastated his family and friends that loved him, but also had an impact on fans of his acting work. During his 67th year of life, complications from the illness eventually claimed his life as he was laid to rest on June 28, 2014.

Although his cancer was painful and heartbreaking to go through, he fought through the pain in order to see his mother, Hertha Ward Taylor, celebrate her 100th birthday a week before his passing. At the celebration, she was honored by former colleagues, family members and other loved ones that appreciated the time and effort that she placed into her teaching career that lasted over 40 years.

Taylor is not only survived by his children and his wife, but by his mother and grandchildren as well. After his passing, Taylor is still remembered and held close in the hearts of those whose lives he impacted. In fact, his close friend of 44 years, Joseph Mantegna, went on The Queen Latifah Show where he was asked about his friendship and memories of Taylor.

Although they first met on set, the two were godfathers of each other’s children, so Taylor’s passing had a notable impact on Mantegna. He fondly recalls birthday parties and other times the two spent together during the interview.
