The late senator John McCain's daughter Meghan McCain opened up about what it's like losing a parent. John McCain passed away last year on August 25th after losing his battle to brain cancer. His daughter, who co-hosts "The View," posted an emotional message the day before the anniversary of his death saying how his passing “was the worst day of my life.”
Although it has been a year since Senator McCain passed away, his family still grieves his loss. Some months ago, Meghan McCain wrote on Instagram about mourning his death:
"345 days. I woke up a week ago early in the morning and tried to call your cell phone - forgetting that I can’t anymore. How is it possible I still do that? I don’t know."

The TV personality also said that losing somebody close doesn't get easier, "We just learn to hide our grief better because it makes so many people so uncomfortable. Our culture avoids any and all reminders of death and mortality - it’s still one of the ultimate taboos."
Senator McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer the year prior to his death. The politician had run in the presidential race twice before but did not win.
Over the weekend, Meghan shared a message on twitter about the anniversary of her father’s death.
“Last year tomorrow, August 25th was the worst day of my life,” she wrote. “I lost my hero. I miss my father every single day, I will for the rest of my life. Grief is omnipresent and relentless. For every single person who has sent prayers, love & support to my family, we are truly grateful.”

Earlier this month, Meghan had revealed that she was dreading the anniversary of her father’s death.
“I love you so much Dad, I’m not ashamed I still miss you terribly. I’m still searching for meaning and God’s plan in all of it,” she said on Instagram. “I’m dreading 20 days from now like I’m bracing for a flood to come..."
