Meghan Markle’s Half-Sister Samantha Criticizes Netflix’s ‘Harry & Meghan’ As A ‘$100 Million Fake News PR Machine’

The love story between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is one that many people are familiar with. However, this hasn’t stopped the couple from revealing more about the behind-the-scenes of their intimate lives together, what their relationship is really like, and the pressures they've experienced as part of the royal family.

In a shocking decision that the royal couple made in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior members of the British royal family to relocate to the United States and become financially independent, among many other things.

Apparently, this decision stemmed from the longstanding complicated and misunderstood relationship between Harry & Meghan, the British royal family and the British press.

In an attempt to speak their own truth to the public, the couple, through a million-dollar deal with Netflix, produced their own documentary, chronicling the start of their relationship and recalling how their romance progressed through the years.

Apart from their romance, “Harry & Meghan” also delves into their relationships with members of the royal family and the impact and strains the institution has put on their life together.

In one of the episodes of the highly-talked-about Netflix show, one of Meghan’s estranged family members, who was also mentioned numerous times in "Harry & Meghan," her half-sister, Samantha Markle, has finally spoken out about the controversial documentary.

In the past, Samantha and Meghan have not been the close sisters people might expect, as the latter claims she was not even close to the former in the first place.

Prince Harry and Meghan have been a talking point in the media ever since their relationship came about years ago. Now, with the release of their highly-anticipated documentary “Harry & Meghan,” the couple is yet again under heightened public scrutiny with all the new revelations of the show.

In one of the episodes, Meghan talked about the time when her half-sister through her father's side, Samantha, started hogging the headlines in the United Kingdom about their supposed relationship, despite the fact Meghan hadn’t seen her in over a decade.

"I don't know your middle name, I don't know your birthday; you're telling these people that you raised me and that you've coined me ‘Princess Pushy’? I don't remember seeing her when I was a kid at my dad's house if and when they would come around,” she said. "And the last time that I saw her that I remember when I was in my early 20s. I haven't had a fallout with her. We didn't have a closeness to be able to have that. And I wanted a sister!"

Despite Samantha's continued insistence that she is close with Meghan, the duchess vehemently denied a connection between the two of them. Elsewhere, the second episode of the show touches on Samantha's claim that she and Meghan had a close relationship until 2018.

Following "Harry & Meghan'"s release, Samantha has broken her silence in the loudest way possible, as she appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to speak her side of the story. Flat out, Samantha called the show a “series of lies.”

"I can't believe we were essentially looking at $100 million fake news PR machine," Samantha told the outlet. "It's projection at its finest. And it's almost comical."

Apart from the vicious jab, Samantha also took the time to fire off on another highly-contested relationship — Meghan’s closeness with the late Queen Elizabeth. In the documentary, the Duchess talked fondly of the late queen, explaining the dynamics of their relationship as such:

“I had a really great time with her. I treated her as my husband's grandma, knowing that of course there has to be a completely different sense of propriety and whatnot in public.”

She went on to describe their intimate moments together in-between engagements, recognizing and respecting the figure she was sitting beside. Meghan said that at that time, she had only one thing on her mind: “I'm so grateful that there is a grandmother figure because that feels like family and because I was so, so, close with my grandmother and I took care of her in her final years.”

But for Samantha, Meghan’s story about taking care of her grandmother on her father’s side wasn’t actually true at all.

"The whole grandmother thing — that just did it for us. I think my grandmother would be rolling over in her grave if she saw that. And she didn't take care of her," she pointed out. "She visited her. She never made apple butter with her because my grandmother was making apple butter, like, in the 1970s before Meghan was even born. So it's been so far-fetched. It's like a tragic comedy, especially sadly for our family and for the Royals.”

Meanwhile, when Samantha was asked to give her advice about Meghan to King Charles and the whole British royal family, she adamantly pointed out that they should “lay down the boundaries,” as the duchess is “apathetic” to begin with.

"I think it sets a dangerous precedent to let this go on," she furthered.
