Meghan Markle’s half brother Thomas Markle Jr., 54, has offered some insight into the former-actresses first marriage, which was dissolved in 2013 - just three years before meeting Prince Harry.

Markle Jr. spoke to Australian morning show Sunrise on Monday last week, where he gave his two cents on his sister’s resignation as a senior Royal.

Before Prince Harry, Meghan Markle was married to Trevor Engelson, an American film director. The couple dated for six years before tying the knot in 2010 in Jamaica. Engelson and Markle eventually divorced in 2010.

Speaking to Sunrise on Monday, Markle Jr. claimed his sister and Engelson were “so in love” prior to their separation.

The 54-year-old revealed the marriage fizzled after Meghan moved to Canada to film ‘Suits’.

“She took off and went to Canada and started that series and I think it just fell apart from there. I think they grew apart with a long distance-relationship,” he said.

“It’s unfortunate because I thought they were very happily in love and very happy together,” he added.

Despite the media scrutiny, Engelson has remained particularly tight-lipped about his relationship with his ex-wife.

Shortly after Meghan and Harry’s lavish 2018 Royal wedding, the film producer got engaged to his current wife, Tracey Kurland, whom he married last year.
