Meghan Markle Sent An Important Message To The World With Her Postpartum Debut

It's pretty obvious by now that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex like to do things their own way, and that included their son's debut to the world.

With their first official photo shoot for the now family of three, the new mother was sure to make an important statement.

Just as Kate and Diana did in the past, Meghan sported a radiant glow when showing off little Archie for the first time. And yet her photocall stands out from those of the other two women.

First off, she decided against stepping into the public hours after the birth as her predecessors did. According to the Daily Mail, Meghan found that tradition to be 'archaic'; instead, she waited two days to do so.

When she did, she made sure she showed an honest, realistic depiction of what women look like following the birth of their child.

The Duchess sported a white dress that was cinched at the waist that seemingly deliberately highlighted her body in its 'fourth trimester' -  clearly not trying to hide it.

The message is in line with reports of Meghan mentioning during her pregnancy that she was against giving out an image of 'perfection' after giving birth. A part of pregnancy that is often overlooked is that a mothers body does not return to normal as soon as she gives birth.

Instead of concealing this by wearing something flowy with lots of coverage, Meghan flaunted her postpartum body in her white V-neck dress with pride - which sends a very important message to all women out there.

Previous royal mothers had a very different vibe when showing off their firstborn children.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Diana both chose outfits that were not as form-fitting for their own photoshoots. They also had a blow-out hairdo and makeup on, as opposed to Meghan who chose a more natural look. Additionally, although the other women chose to carry their newborns themselves, possibly as a means of hiding their postpartum belly, Meghan opted for letting Harry carry baby Archie instead.

This choice shows how dedicated she is to staying true to herself and her American roots.

The parents limited the press presence during the photocall in order to ensure as much privacy as possible. In fact, the couple only allowed a handful of British media outlets along with CBS to get a first glimpse at the baby boy.
