Meghan Markle Says She ‘Waddled’ Through Stressful And Tiring Pregnancies

Meghan Markle, born Rachel Meghan Markle, is an American member of the British royal family. The Duchess of Sussex rose to fame when she starred as Rachel Zane in the American television legal drama series "Suits." But the actress's relationship with Prince Harry is what launched her into becoming an international celebrity.

According to Insider, the couple began dating in 2016, when they were set up on a blind date, hitting it off right away. After a blissful two years of dating, the couple wed in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. According to Hello! Magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding has become the most-watched royal wedding in history – although Princess Diana's wedding to Prince Charles still holds the title of garnering the largest UK television audience for a royal wedding. The newlywed royals welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, a year later.

Harry and Meghan denounced their royal titles in January 2020. However, their ties to the family are still clear. Although Meghan was never able to meet her husband's mother, she named their daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, in honor of Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and Harry's mother, Princess Diana.

Since then, Meghan has been very private about her personal life aside from opening up in a few interviews. In August 2022, the Duchess of Sussex revealed more about what it was like being pregnant with Archie and Lili and the overall experience of motherhood, sharing some common feelings that most parents will be able to relate to.

For the birth of both children, Meghan and Harry managed to maintain some resemblance of privacy. They also didn't announce Lili's birth until two days after the fact.

On the actual day little Archie saw the light of day, the couple published an announcement stating that Meghan was in labor, which was followed up by the news that she had given birth to a baby boy via their now no defunct Instagram page.

While Meghan and Harry announced both their children's names two days following their birth, Lili's name was already included with the initial birth announcement, whereas Archie's name wasn't shared with the public until the couple's photo call two days after the news of his birth broke.

Harry and Megan spoke out about their daughter's birth by publishing a personal statement on their Archewell Foundation website. The statement read:

"On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."

In contrast to this low-key announcement, on the day of Archie's birth, his father, Harry, addressed the public, announcing that his wife had given birth to a "very healthy baby boy," assuring everyone that both baby and mother were well and resting.

Just two days later, the young family made their first outing as a unit, with the newborn making his debut as the newest member of the royal family. That same day, Harry and Meghan formally announced their son's name.

Welcoming a new baby can be a hard adjustment for any family, but Meghan is adamant that her son enjoys his role as an older brother. "He loves being a big brother!" the mother of two told Ellen DeGeneres, according to Hello! Magazine.

"Someone told H (Harry) and I that when you have one kid, it's a hobby, and two children is parenting," Meghan continued. "Suddenly we realized, oh right, everyone talks about what it's like for the second child, but no one talks about the adjustment for the first child when the second one comes along. So I think they have that moment of, 'Oh, this is fun ... oh, this is how it is now.'"

While Harry and Meghan have since shown that they are incredibly loving parents to Archie and Lili, they have definitely had some tougher moments during their parenthood journeys. During an episode of her Archetypes podcast, Meghan and Serena Williams spoke about what it is like being mothers.

Williams shared that she hopes to expand her family and thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant. “I love being a woman and I love, I loved being pregnant. You know, I was one of those.” She added that she was “so happy” while being pregnant.

On the other hand, Meghan experienced a very different feeling during her own pregnancy. She shared, “You made pregnancy look so sexy. I just waddled around. I was just tired. So tired. Oh my god.” Williams commended Meghan, though, as she was “under a lot of stress.” Meghan agreed, saying, “Yeah, it’s true.”

Many parents can surely relate to how Meghan felt while pregnant. Still, the Duchess of Sussex has proven to be a class act as a mother, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for her adorable kids!
