Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, celebrated her 45th birthday with a playful pair of black-and-white photographs showing her jumping into a swimming pool while holding a bunch of balloons.
In the first image, Meghan wears a swimsuit and sunglasses as she leaps toward the water with one arm raised. The second captures the splash, with her hand still holding the balloons above the surface. She captioned the post: “Thank you for the birthday love!”
According to People, the photographs were taken in California during an early birthday celebration by a friend of Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. The images offered a lighthearted glimpse of the duchess, who was born in Los Angeles on August 4, 1981.
Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, also honored its founder with a carousel combining a present-day portrait and a childhood photograph. The brand wrote: “Happy birthday to our founder, @meghan.” It added: “Lighting No. 084 to celebrate!”
The message referred to As Ever’s Signature Candle No. 084. On its official product page, the company says the number represents Meghan’s August 4 birthday and describes the candle as a fragrance associated with her family home.
Meghan and Prince Harry live in California with their two children, Prince Archie, born on May 6, 2019, and Princess Lilibet, born on June 4, 2021. No detailed account of the family’s private birthday plans was released.
The understated post contrasted with a formal royal portrait and instead emphasized spontaneity, gratitude and celebration. Its monochrome styling kept the focus on the movement, balloons and joyful poolside moment.

The birthday celebration also highlighted a period in which Meghan combined entertainment projects, entrepreneurship and public appearances.
She and Prince Harry serve as executive producers of Cookie Queens through Archewell Productions. Directed by Alysa Nahmias, the documentary follows four Girl Scouts through cookie-selling season, exploring ambition, confidence and the business skills involved in the annual tradition. The film had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where Sundance described its young subjects as determined girls with “big personalities and big ambitions.”
At a Los Angeles screening, Meghan shared advice she said Harry had given her during difficult moments. Referring to his military flying experience, she recalled: “My love, you know, even if there's a storm happening, above the storm, the sun's always shining.” She explained that the idea encouraged her to step back and see challenging situations from a broader perspective.
Meghan also appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia. Paramount Australia confirmed that she joined judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli for a challenge centered on seasonal ingredients and the personal stories behind the contestants’ dishes.
The appearance carried personal significance because Meghan and Harry toured Australia in 2018, when Kensington Palace announced that they were expecting Archie. Reflecting on her return, Meghan said: “Oh, we're so excited. We love Australia.”
She added: “We had the most sentimental, amazing time. We were here almost eight years ago. We announced we were pregnant with Archie at the time. So, it's full circle; here we are, but thrilled to be here with all of you and taste some really good food. I've heard you've been cooking up a storm this season.”
Together, the projects reflect Meghan’s interest in storytelling, food and female entrepreneurship—subjects connected to her work through Archewell Productions and As Ever.
