Meghan Markle Reveals A Morning Tradition With Prince Archie & Princess Lilibet That Keeps Her Grounded Every Day

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have long been known for carving out a life centered on family, privacy, and purpose since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. Now settled in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have found joy in the everyday moments that make up their new routine.

For Meghan, those moments often begin in the kitchen. While her public life once revolved around red carpets and royal engagements, her mornings now include something much simpler — cooking breakfast for her family. The Duchess, who has often spoken about mindfulness and slowing down, sees the morning meal as a way to stay connected with her husband and children before the day begins.

In her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” she gives viewers a glimpse of that ritual during a lighthearted kitchen conversation with “Queer Eye” star Tan France. The pair prepares French toast together while chatting about family, parenting, and the comfort that comes from the small things.

For many fans, it’s a rare look into how Meghan balances her family life with her public role. And as she shared in the episode, the morning ritual isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence. What she said next perfectly captures her approach to both motherhood and marriage.

“I make hot breakfast most mornings for the kids and my husband. But it’s not as complicated as people think it is,” Meghan shared to Tan while whisking eggs on her show “With Love, Meghan.” She continued: “This is so easy to make. It feels like a big undertaking, but you’re just slicing bread and dunking it in eggs and calling it a day.”

France laughed, noting, “You’re at the griddle. They’re not just eating cereal.” Meghan smiled and replied:

“Yes, fried eggs and pancakes. But I like to do surprise pancakes for the kids, so I always put some ground flax seeds, pour some chia seeds. And Lili will ask me, ‘Can I have chia seeds? I want it to have freckles.’”

The duchess explained that her breakfast routine has become more than just a task — it’s a time to bond:

“The ritual of breakfast, it’s a sacred time as a family.”

She continued:

“You pace it. You can talk about what they’re excited for the day. So just take a minute of calm before the day, wherever the day is going to end up taking you.”

Meghan also shared how she adds her own creative touch. “One thing I do with my kids — and I will say that it takes a bit more time — I like the presentation for them. Archie will say, ‘Oh, mama, that looks beautiful,’” she said. And while she loves to make holidays special with themed breakfasts, she keeps it real about busy mornings too: “My husband and Archie both love fried eggs,” she shared with PEOPLE: “There’s a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don’t have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day. And there’s no shame in that either.”

In the same conversation, Meghan also revealed that she wakes up way before her children do, at around 6:30 in the morning. She stated: “I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs. I love making breakfast for my family.”
