Meghan Markle Receives Her First Emmy Nomination — and the Timing of the News Could Not Have Been Better

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, landed back in California from her UK trip on Sunday, July 13, 2026 — four days that had included a historic reunion between her children and King Charles at Highgrove, a visit believed to have included Althorp, and the most significant royal family chapter in years. By Monday, July 14, she was already making news of a different kind.
"With Love, Meghan" received a nomination for Outstanding Lifestyle Program at the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards. It is the first Emmy nomination of Meghan's career. The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 30, 2026. The show competes against "A Different Breed," "George to the Rescue," "The Motherhood," and "The Wizard of Paws."
Meghan, born Aug. 4, 1981, took to Instagram to share the news, posting a congratulatory message to her team. "A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on 'With Love, Meghan' on Netflix," she wrote. "We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!" She also reshared a promotional image from the show and encouraged her followers to "create wonder in every moment."
It was, Hello! Magazine noted, her first public statement since the UK visit — a return to her professional life, made from her personal account, with characteristic warmth.
"With Love, Meghan" featured celebrity guests including Mindy Kaling, Tan France, and Chrissy Teigen, and focused on Meghan's love of cooking, gardening, and entertaining. It coincided with the launch of her lifestyle brand As Ever. Reviews were mixed. The nomination was not.

The Daytime Emmy distinction is worth understanding on its own terms. The awards, which have been held annually since 1974, recognize excellence in daytime television — a category that includes soap operas, talk shows, game shows, and lifestyle programming. They are not the Primetime Emmys. The ceremony is smaller, the broadcast more limited, and the category of Outstanding Lifestyle Program is occupied largely by niche cable programs rather than major studio productions.
That context does not diminish what the nomination represents for Meghan personally. It is her first recognition from the Television Academy — a body that shapes the formal landscape of American television — in any category, in any form. She was submitted for Emmy consideration for her "Suits" role in 2018 but was not nominated. The "With Love, Meghan" nod is the first time her name has officially appeared on the ballot.
The nomination also arrives at a moment of transition for Meghan's entertainment career. Netflix renegotiated its deal with the Sussexes in early 2026 at a substantially lower level than the original reported $100 million agreement signed in 2020. The show was not renewed for a third season. Meghan has since signed on to appear in the upcoming comedy "Close Personal Friends," alongside Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid — marking her return to acting for the first time since her pre-royal "Suits" days.
The Emmy nomination landed the week she returned from the UK. "With Love, Meghan" may not be returning to Netflix. But for the first time in Meghan's career, the Television Academy has put her name on a ballot. That is the milestone — and she celebrated it accordingly.
