Meghan Markle Marks Mother’s Day With Rare Snap Of Kids Archie & Lilibet Scrambling Up ‘Mama Mountain’

Mother’s Day weekend had some of our favorite Hollywood stars either celebrating their motherhood or their mothers, and the royals were no exception. In a touching celebration of Mother’s Day on May 11, 2025, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, shared a rare and intimate photograph featuring her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.  

This post marked one of the few occasions the Duchess has publicly shared images of her children, emphasizing the moment's significance. She had previously been quiet and stayed under the radar on social media. However, since reactivating her Instagram earlier this year, Meghan has offered glimpses into her family's life in Montecito, California, often highlighting special occasions and personal milestones. She has also shown more personality in her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.”

The Mother’s Day photograph showcased the close bond between Meghan and her children and reflected the family’s emphasis on creating meaningful memories together. Since moving to the United States from the United Kingdom, Harry and Meghan have been finding their way and navigating the future of their small family.  

In previous posts, Meghan had shared insights into their family traditions. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also spoiled the public with holiday cards, such as their adorable Christmas card last year. They also posted themed meals for Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. They also baked a homemade pie for the U.K.’s Mothering Sunday. Meghan celebrated the British version of Mother’s Day in March with a picture of the pie and the caption:

“Our family tradition. Mothering Sunday in the U.K.” 

Meghan, who wed Prince Harry in 2018, now lives in Montecito, California, with her husband and their 6-year-old son, Prince Archie, and 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet. While the Duchess of Sussex prefers not to have her children’s faces on camera and in the press, she has recently been sharing parts of her life with her fans online.

The picture appeared to be taken at their home, with Meghan in casual loungewear as she carried her two children. All of them had their faces turned away from the camera. She accompanied the sweet post with a heartfelt caption that read: 

“Happy Mother’s Day! Cheers to juggling it all with joy! And to these two gems - who still attempt to climb “mama mountain”, smother me with kisses, and make every day the most memorable adventure….being your mom is the greatest privilege of my life ❤️”

She finished off the tribute with a quote emphasizing her love for her little ones:

“I, too, ‘love you more than all the stars in all the sky, all the raindrops, and all the salt on all the french fries in all the world,’” she wrote.

The image on her personal Instagram account captures a candid moment of Archie and Lilibet playfully climbing on their mother, whom they affectionately call “Mama Mountain.” 

Harry and Meghan have charmed fans with their love for their children, with insiders revealing that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken to parenting well. One insider shared that the Sussexes are enjoying life in “their happy bubble.” Another source shared:

“The kids are adorable. They’re incredibly smart, articulate, and fun.”
