This Monday, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and son Prince Archie touched ground in Cape Town, South Africa, kicking off their 10-day-tour of Africa. The tour is one of Markle’s first Royal Duties since taking time off for maternity leave.

The Royal couple hit the ground running, with them visiting the Nyanga Methodist Church in Nyanga township, Cape Town the same day they arrived. Photos of the pair’s visit to Nyanga have since emerged, with one particularly heatwarming one showing the Duchess hugging a local boy from the crowd.

Zoe Forsey, lifestyle editor for the Daily Mirror, took to Twitter on Monday to post sweet photos of Meghan hugging a local boy. While in Nyanga, Markle and Prince Harry visited Justice Desk, a Human Rights NGO based in South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The NGO is now offering self-defense classes to local women as a means to protect themselves from the rising gender-violence in the region. To mark their arrival, the local community played traditional music and danced for the couple, with both Harry and Markle joining in.

The Duchess also took the opportunity to give a speech aimed towards women who have fallen victim to domestic violence.

“You are incredible and what you are doing is so powerful because you are so powerful," she told workers and volunteers at the Justice Desk in Cape Town's Nyanga township. "The work that is being done here to keep women and children safer is needed more than ever,” said Markle.

The Duchess went on to explain that she and Harry have been following the gender violence crisis in South Africa.

“We are eager to learn and see first hand the vital work that you’re doing ... on the ground to make the change, not just that you need but also deserve,” she added.

On Tuesday, the couple took to Bo Kaap to celebrate Heritage Day in South Africa, where they visited the Auwal Mosque, the oldest Mosque in the county. The Duke and Duchess were also invited by Shamielah Samsodian to enjoy local delicacies.
