Meghan Markle Has To Create More Than Just A ‘Grievance Brand,’ Royal Biographer Says

Despite resigning from their responsibilities as members of the British monarchy, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still living under the scrutiny of the public eye as two of the most talked-about members of the British royal family.
Like her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, Meghan had been a subject of criticism and continuous bullying from the press, especially regarding the decisions and plans she would want to take on in the future.
But despite this, Meghan managed to push through and worked tirelessly despite stepping down as a senior member of the royal family, along with her husband, Prince Harry.
As the Duchess of Sussex, she has continued support for a number of charitable causes and organizations that reflect the issues she has long been associated with including the arts, access to education, support for women and animal welfare.
English journalist Tina Brown revealed her thoughts that these organizations still don’t represent the real Meghan, and she gave a descriptive assessment as to where the Duchess of Sussex is heading right now.
Speaking more in her book, “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – The Truth and the Turmoil,” Brown also pointed out that the couple had underestimated the impact that leaving the royal family would cause them.
Currently, Meghan and Harry are committed to continuing the work that they've been doing, after temporarily halting their projects following the death of Queen Elizabeth and her funeral services in the United Kingdom.
But after they returned to the United States, the couple is back to the ball game.

In the case of Prince Harry, he has ventured into the entertainment world with a Netflix deal. According to The Guardian, Harry and Meghan were set to release a documentary on the streaming giant Netflix covering the behind-the-scenes of the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for “wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women” that Harry himself founded.
“Heart of Invictus” will follow the journeys of individuals who are competing at the Prince Harry-backed sporting event for injured former members of the armed forces. Harry will appear on camera and be credited as an executive producer on the series, which will cover the run-up to the 2022 Invictus Games in The Hague.
But his wife Meghan, who is no stranger to showbiz, has taken a different route and headed to Spotify, one of the largest music and podcast streaming platforms in the world. Archewell Audio, another production arm of the royal couple, is producing “Archetypes by Meghan.” According to the official description, the weekly podcast is a platform that aims to “investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”
Aside from the entertainment deals, Meghan and Harry also mounted the Archewell Foundation, named after their firstborn, Archie. It is a non-profit organization that “drives systematic cultural change across all communities.”
Despite these platforms and causes that Meghan and Harry have founded and prominently supported, it seems like Brown, a journalist and royal biographer is convinced that Meghan, specifically, is missing her own personal brand, unlike other members of the royal family.

While doing a round of press for her new book, Brown has touched on Meghan and the causes that she has been supporting. In an interview with The Washington Post, Brown gave her input as to where she believes the Duchess of Sussex is heading.
“Meghan doesn’t really have a brand – it’s the truth. And she’s sort of you feel, that she is grasping somewhat at whatever Twitter is carrying at the moment. It’s vaccinations! It’s Ukraine! It’s women’s rights! It’s my 40th birthday, lets have a mentoring scheme! Nothing is going anywhere for Meghan.”
Brown even described Meghan’s Spotify podcast to be “going nowhere” — indicating what she sees as the couple “scrambling for deals” like any other celebrities.
“I think It’s a very hard task to keep that a lot. If you’re royal, there’s no time stamp on it. You could be as boring as you want for years and years and still you’re going to have big things coming your way,” Brown continued.
She also doubled down on her doubts about Meghan during a talk at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on Oct. 11, 2022, as she delved into the duchess' apparent missing branding.
“I think Meghan does really need to find the thing she cares about the most and develop her own sort of brand that isn’t just a grievance brand, that is actually something we recognize as hers,” Express reported.
Brown added: “It’s hard to find that, and I think she hasn’t yet found that but I think she could if she rows back from focusing always on what didn’t work. It’s much harder than it looks.”
