Meghan Markle Discloses Daughter Lili’s New Milestones She Reached After Her First Birthday

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shocked the world by announcing they were stepping back as senior royals in early 2020. They have since relocated to the United States, where they live with their two children, son Archie, and daughter Lilibet. Although they retained their HRH titles, they would receive no financial support from the palace as they would no longer undertake royal duties as representatives of the monarch. Their sharp criticism of the royal family’s culture was met with some opprobrium around the world, but the couple also found a lot of support.

Since settling in Montecito in Santa Barbara, California, the Sussexes have been busy juggling family and work life, although they have made appearances in a handful of royal events in London. On Aug. 23, 2022, Meghan launched her podcast “Archetype” on Spotify.

Meghan hosts the podcast that “dives into the labels that try to hold women back.” Each episode will see the duchess speak to prominent personalities to unearth “the origin of words such as ‘diva,’ ‘slut,’ ‘the B word,’ ‘hysterical,’” and “discover how these archetypes impact our everyday lives in ways big and small … and asks the question: can we change this?”

In the introductory episode, Meghan said “These are words you hear a lot. In the media, online, in peoples’ homes. They’re thrown around casually. And they’re usually aimed at women.” She added “It’s time to cut through the noise. We’re gonna get to the roots of these words. And understand why they persist.”

In the fourth episode of her podcast, Meghan sat down with actress Pamela Adlon, comedienne Sam Jay and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Read on to find out what Meghan revealed about her daily routine with the kids and how Harry helps out.

Speaking to Adlon during the podcastMeghan touched on how frantic her life with two young children can get. After Adlon shared she sometimes felt like she didn’t fit in as a mother, Meghan described her morning routine as a “whirlwind.”

“So the morning rush, I’m sure it’ll only get more chaotic as they get older, but for me, it’s. You know, both monitors on for the kids to hear them always up with Lili. Get her downstairs. Then a half hour later, Archie’s up. Start doing his lunchbox right before he’s up, while I have her getting her a little nibble. My husband’s helping me get him downstairs, and it’s — I make breakfast for all three of them. It’s very important to me. I love doing it,” she said, adding there were also some new additions to the family.

“To me, feels like the greatest way to start the morning. And then it’s like, feed all three of the dogs because we just got another dog and then get Archie out the door to school and, you know, but it does, it feels like a whirlwind,” Meghan added.

Meghan also opened up about how far her daughter Lili, who was born on June 4, 2021, and her son Archie, who was born two years earlier on May 6, 2019, have come.

“Lili just started walking. She’s a year and a couple of months old and Archie’s just over three years old,” she said, adding “So yeah they are... Oh I’m in the thick of it. Toddling.”

Meghan also explained how grateful she is to have Harry by her side.

“Oh my husband, he’s great. I mean, to do this as a single mom, I bow down to you. How someone does this without a partner to help them through. It is so much work to be a mom when you are just trying to be a conscious parent to raise good, kind human beings and to do that solo is the most impressive, admirable thing on the planet,” Meghan said.

Harry has been vocal before about how much he enjoys parenting. In April 2022, he told People he was a “proud papa” and enjoyed witnessing all the milestones of his children’s lives.

“(Lili’s) current priorities are trying to keep up with her brother; she took her first step just a few days ago!” he told the outlet, adding he was keen to share his own passions with little Archie.

“I showed Archie a video of wheelchair basketball and rugby from the Invictus Games in Sydney, and he absolutely loved it. … I showed him how some were missing legs and explained that some had invisible injuries, too. Not because he asked, but because I wanted to tell him. Kids understand so much, and to see it through his eyes was amazing because it’s so unfiltered and honest,” Harry explained.

He added becoming a father had changed so much about his life.

“Being a dad certainly adds another emotional layer… When I was in the Army, I promised myself I would be out before having a wife and kids, because I couldn’t imagine the heartache of being apart for so long during deployment, the risk of possibly getting injured, and the reality that my family’s lives could be changed forever if that happened,” he said.
