Meghan Markle Dares To Bare In Tiny Shorts Under The Summer Sun

Meghan Markle has long understood the power of a good pair of shorts, but her latest summer look proves that the Duchess of Sussex is taking the trend to a decidedly more daring place.

In a recent glimpse at Meghan’s summer wardrobe, the former “Suits” star stepped out in wide-leg white shorts paired with an oversized white button-down shirt and an enormous straw hat. The combination was breezy, playful and unmistakably Californian, offering a glimpse at the more relaxed fashion persona Meghan has embraced since settling into life in Montecito.

The look, as seen in a video from her brand's social media account, As Ever, comes as micro shorts are enjoying a major fashion moment. The tiny silhouette has been embraced by some of the biggest names in fashion, with the current summer trend moving between ultra-short hemlines and oversized, longer shorts.

“A taste of late summer is almost here 🤍 Something sweet is arriving soon,” Meghan teased in the caption.

For Meghan, however, the appeal seems to be less about chasing a trend and more about dressing for the lifestyle she has built in California.

Her shorts were given a sophisticated counterpoint by the crisp white shirt, creating the sort of high-low balance that has become increasingly characteristic of her wardrobe. Rather than looking overly styled, the outfit had an easy, vacation-ready quality — polished enough to feel intentional, yet casual enough for browsing shops or enjoying a sunny afternoon.

It is a significant departure from the highly structured wardrobe Meghan adopted during her years as a working member of the royal family. Back then, tailored coats, elegant dresses, pointed-toe pumps, and sleek separates made up much of her public-facing uniform.

Since moving to California, her style has softened considerably.

Meghan has increasingly gravitated towards neutral colors, relaxed tailoring, linen, denim, oversized shirts, wide-leg trousers and understated accessories. There is still plenty of luxury in her wardrobe, but the overall effect is less formal and more effortlessly Californian.

Her recent summer outfits illustrate that evolution particularly well. During a family getaway, Meghan shared photographs wearing a series of easy, warm-weather pieces, including a black swimsuit, a breezy mini dress, a white button-down with shorts and a wide-brimmed sun hat. Her vacation wardrobe was described as a lesson in classic, mix-and-match dressing.

Even when she dresses for a public appearance, Meghan appears reluctant to abandon that relaxed aesthetic.

At a recent screening of “Cookie Queens” in California, she wore oversized white shorts, a short-sleeved brown knit sweater, and black velvet flats. The look was comfortable but considered, while her high ponytail and delicate gold jewelry added a polished finish.

The contrast between Meghan’s royal-era wardrobe and her current style is striking. Where once the occasion dictated the outfit, her California wardrobe seems to prioritize comfort, practicality and personal expression.

And that may be the most interesting thing about Meghan’s fashion evolution. She is no longer dressing to fit neatly into a particular royal template.

Whether she is wearing tiny shorts and a giant sun hat, a tailored blazer with jeans or a flowing vacation dress, Meghan’s style now feels rooted in the world around her.

The latest shorts look is simply another example of that transformation — a little bit cheeky, a little bit polished and entirely at home in the California sunshine.
