Meghan Markle Compares Prince Harry To Hero Who Slays ‘The Dragon’ To ‘Save The Princess’

Meghan Markle appeared makeup-free and unfiltered on “The Jamie Kern Lima Show” in a candid, heartfelt conversation that offered a personal glimpse into her life. In the episode released on Apr. 28, 2025, Meghan, 43, spoke warmly about her husband, Prince Harry, 40, and their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

Her reflections on marriage and family come after she and Prince Harry stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, Meghan’s home state. Since beginning this new chapter, Harry has stayed active in charitable efforts, including a visit to California firefighters who were battling the Pacific Palisades and Altadena wildfires in January 2025.

Prince Harry, honored in 2024 at the Living Legends of Aviation ceremony for his work as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan, returned for the second year in a row to the event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Apr. 25, 2025.

Morgan Freeman and other distinguished guests joined the Duke of Sussex to honor the fire department. During his speech, Harry remarked: “This past January, when fires swept through over 50 square miles of Los Angeles County – threatening homes, businesses, communities – we saw that spirit in action. We saw courage. We saw commitment. And we saw an extraordinary group of men and women take to the skies, also risking their lives to protect people they would never meet.”

He continued with a message of appreciation: “It has reminded us that in a world full of noise, there are still quiet heroes among us – steady, capable, and brave.”

On the April 2025 podcast, Meghan and Jamie Kern Lima, the founder of IT Cosmetics, sat comfortably in coordinating black sweats and sneakers. The setting and tone remained relaxed and authentic, reflecting the genuine bond shared between the two women.

During the heartfelt conversation with Lima, Meghan added a meaningful detail to her outfit by wearing a top embroidered with the names of her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as she spoke warmly about her bond with Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex reflected on the strength of their relationship and the support they give one another.

“It’s not something to be taken for granted when you have a partner, a spouse, who is just so behind you,” Meghan said, continuing, “H, that man loves me so much. Look what we’ve built? We have a beautiful life, we have two healthy, beautiful children.”

To describe their connection, Meghan used a playful analogy that drew on a classic video game reference:

“I always think about it like the end of Super Mario Bros. When you get to the final, final level and they go, ‘Slay the dragon, save the princess.’ I’m like, that’s my husband.” 

She shared:

“He’s constantly going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected, and we’re uplifted and still make time for date nights.”
