Meghan Markle Caught Speaking With A British Accent Just A Couple Months Into Her Role As Duchess

Why is the world all agog at the idea that Meghan Markle may have soaked up a bit of a British accent after being immersed in a sea of Brits for a couple of months? After all, she was an actress before she became royalty.

Actors and actresses frequently have to learn to speak a certain way for a part. Some actresses, like Meryl Streep, even built their careers on their ability to convincingly convey a variety of accents. So if she is starting to sound a more like a Brit and a bit less like an American, this really shouldn't exactly be a shocking development.

Other celebrities, like Madonna and Lindsey Lohan, have already shown how easily some people pick up new accents. This idea is hardly news. It could be argued this makes Meghan the perfect candidate for the role she has found herself playing.

Although she is on the world stage, her position is, in fact, a British position.

Why shouldn't she add a splash of British panache so British subjects can more readily understand her and feel she's theirs? Americans can keep their grabby hands to themselves. You had her for a time. Now she belongs to Britain -- and it seems to be starting to show when she opens her mouth.

Some people are thrilled to pieces. Her budding new accent is music to their ears. It seems like it is probably good news. You know that saying about "Two countries, separated by a common language"? Let's assume that Meghan is diplomatically building bridges with her chameleon-like ability to start fitting in fast and speak the local lingo and gain acceptance.

Of course, people are still debating whether she does or doesn't really have a tinge of British accent going on. Some say "yes" and some say "no."
