Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Privately Congratulated William For Milestone Anniversary

Apr 30, 2021 by apost team

On April 29, 2021, Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated their milestone 10th anniversary. This year marks a decade of Middleton being a dedicated, senior member of the royal family, a job that she has taken on with strength and grace. The royal couple no doubt received many congratulatory messages on their wedding anniversary.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, their celebrations were limited, but the couple did release two new portraits on their social media accounts to mark the occasion. The photos featured the happy couple beaming brightly as they cuddled closely. The photos seem to be received very well by the public and continue to be inundated by thousands of commemorative messages from royal fans.

The question on everyone's mind, however, has been whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sent in a message to mark the Cambridges' special day as well. Since Harry and Markle's abrupt departure as senior working members of the royal family, the already existing tension between the brothers and their wives has grown. Moreover, since Harry and Markle's controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, the rift has become wider and more difficult to bridge.

Prince Philip's death on April 9, 2021 was a tragic loss for the royal family, and Harry reunited with his family for the first time during Philip's funeral. As Markle is heavily pregnant, she could not attend the somber event. The rift between Harry and his family was widely publicized during this time.

A spokesperson for Harry and Markle confirmed to Harper's Bazaar that the couple did indeed privately send in their congratulatory wishes to William and Middleton.

It isn't clear whether Harry and Markle chose to congratulate them over a video call, written messages or phone call, but it was clear that Sussexes did send in their wishes as per Harper's Bazaar. This was a big anniversary for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, after all. There were already reports of a suspected feud between Markle and Middleton after the wedding, and this feud was brought to light by Markle during the controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. During the television special, Harry and Markle openly criticized the royal family and its culture.

The death of Philip sent the United Kingdom into mourning, especially ardent supporters of the British monarchy. The funeral was, in some ways, a segue for the family to heal after the tumultuous year. It marked the first time Harry was back on English soil after stepping down from the duties of a senior royal just a year ago, Metro reports. Markle could not join him as the couple is expecting their second child soon. Due to Markle being heavily pregnant, she has been advised by doctors not to fly during this time. It is understood, however, that she had made every effort to join her husband until her doctors did not give her clearance, as per the news outlet.

The Sun reported that William has previously called his wife a "peacemaker" in the family, and that may have helped to thaw the cold relationship between Harry and his brother. Harry was first seen talking to Middleton after the queen left the funeral in her car.

After other mourners had left the chapel, William let Harry and Middleton catch up before joining them. The three of them then walked together, before Middleton stepped back ever so slightly so that the brother could walk and chat together. This small gesture by Middleton allowed a pathway for the brothers to connect in a better way.

Following this brief conversation, the brothers met for "peace talks," as reported by the Daily Mail, away from the cameras in Windsor Castle and with the inclusion of their father Prince Charles.

The royal brothers are expected to reunite once again in the summer when they will unveil a statue in honor of their mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace. Set to take place on July 1 — to commemorate what would have been Diana's 60th birthday — royal insiders are hopeful that the event will heal their relationship, with a source telling the Daily Mail:

"It's early days but you'd hope this is exactly the first step Philip would have wished for."

Since Markle could not be at the funeral, and it is not clear if or when she will travel to the UK, she found a way to honor the late Philip by commissioning a wreath that was specially designed to include significant virtues, moments and times that were most important for Philip and adding a handwritten note to the wreath, which was pictured in St. George’s Chapel during the funeral service. Even though she could not have been at the funeral in person, a spokesperson for the duchess confirmed to HuffPost that she did watch the live airing of the funeral from her home.
