Meghan Markle And Harry Fire UK Staff Signalling Royal Couple Will Not Return

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly closed their Buckingham Palace office, with their 15 staff members losing their current jobs. Some speculate that this could signal that the royals would not return to the UK.

The closure of the office comes in the face of their Instagram announcement saying that they would be stepping back from their royal duties early this year, and moving to Canada.

The Daily Mail reports that the staff members were made aware of the news of the office closure in January and while the Palace does not comment on staffing matters, senior royals such as Prince Charles, Prince William, and the Queen were aware of the big news. Some employees will be absorbed into other appointments in the household, but some will be completely let go.

Harry and Meghan's engagements had required a few event planners, program managers, communications officers, and other staffers to keep their schedules organized. Their loyal employees were highly regarded and beloved, such as Clara Loughran who had the important role of handing Meghan her bouquet on her wedding day, or Marnie Gaffney who was made a member of the Royal Victorian Order by the Queen.

There will be a few ends to tie up and engagements to complete in the coming months but now that Harry and Meghan are living in Canada, there is no need for the UK staff. It could mean that they will be staying there indefinitely.

Harry moved over to join his wife and baby at the end of January according to The Sun, after he completed talks about "Megxit" with his family.
