Meghan and Her Children’s Reported UK Return Puts Royal Security Back in Focus
Jul 10, 2026 by apost team
Reports that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, may travel to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have placed the family’s security concerns back in the spotlight. The proposed private visit would coincide with Prince Harry’s UK engagements, but no official confirmation has been issued by the Sussexes or Buckingham Palace.
The Times reported that Meghan and the children were expected to avoid public appearances. Their plans had reportedly changed after earlier concerns about protection and accommodation. Because the information comes largely from unnamed sources, any claim that the trip is definite should be treated cautiously.
A visit would carry personal significance. Archie and Lilibet have not been publicly reported in Britain since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. Reports have also suggested that the family hopes to visit Althorp, the Northamptonshire estate where Diana, Princess of Wales, is buried. That plan has not been confirmed by Althorp or the Sussexes.
Speculation has also focused on a possible meeting with King Charles III. Buckingham Palace announced the King’s cancer diagnosis on February 5, 2024, and he has continued undertaking public duties while receiving treatment. No meeting involving the King, Harry, Meghan or the children has been announced.
The uncertainty surrounding the visit reflects a broader reality: private family plans involving senior royals often become public stories before those involved confirm them. In this case, the most accurate description is that Meghan and the children are reportedly considering or preparing for a private UK trip—not that their arrival or schedule is established fact.

Harry’s security arrangements have been disputed since he and Meghan stepped back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020. A February 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, known as RAVEC, ended the automatic provision of the same level of publicly funded police protection Harry had previously received in Britain.
Harry challenged the way that decision was made. On May 2, 2025, the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal. The judgment did not rule that Harry and his family could never receive police protection. It upheld a system under which security is considered according to the circumstances of individual visits.
Reports about a Buckingham Palace accommodation offer require careful treatment. The Times reported that a palace stay had been discussed but was no longer available after arrangements changed. There is no authoritative evidence that King Charles personally invited Harry and then deliberately “disinvited” him.
Harry’s UK schedule has included work connected to the Invictus Games, the sporting event he founded for wounded, injured and sick military personnel and veterans. The next Games are scheduled for July 10–17, 2027, in Birmingham. Organizers expect about 550 competitors from 25 nations to take part in 12 adaptive sports.
His visit coincided with a High Court judgment in his privacy case against Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday. On July 7, 2026, the court rejected the claims brought by Harry and other figures, finding that the allegations of unlawful information gathering had not been proved. Harry described the ruling as a “complete and obvious whitewash,” while the publisher called it a victory.
A UK visit by Meghan, Archie and Lilibet may be under consideration, but meetings with King Charles, a trip to Althorp and accommodation arrangements remain unconfirmed.
