Meghan And Harry’s Royal Privileges To Cease Following Megxit
Mar 03, 2020 by apost team
After they give up their royal life in April, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will no longer have many of the privileges associated with royal life.
From housing to travel, to the Queen's private jewelry collection, the Sussex couple will not only be giving up material goods but some of their privacy as well.

In terms of royal residences, Harry and Meghan will have to pay back British taxpayers for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage that was gifted to them by the Queen in 2019. According to CNN, some of the $3 million refurbishments included stairs, new fireplaces, and a 'floating' wooden door. According to a Buckingham Palace statement, the couple will still have the cottage as their UK base despite their current residence in Canada.
The statement read:
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home."

Because the Frogmore Cottage will no longer be the couple's place of official royal residency, the Queen's estate will also no longer pay for cottage staff. Shortly after the Megxit announcement in January, the staff was removed from the cottage altogether.
Royal correspondent Rebecca English said that many of the staff members have been relocated to other royal residences, according to the Daily Mail.
3. Canadian Security Will End Along with Royal Status

Since Harry and Meghan will be changing their status from royals to normal citizens, they will no longer receive Canadian-funded security. According to CBS News, Canada had been financing Harry and Meghan's security since they moved to Vancouver Island. However, once they resign in April, they will have to pay for their own safety and security.
A government correspondent told CBS News:
"The assistance will cease in the coming weeks, in keeping with their change in status."
4. Meghan Won't Borrow Queen's Jewels like Kate Middleton

It's no secret that Kate Middleton has been seen wearing jewelry from the Queen's private collection for royal events. From necklaces to earrings and more, Kate regularly borrows the Queen's jewelry, but the same luxury will no longer be available to Meghan.
According to Express, Meghan has, in fact, never been given the luxury, nor has been spotted wearing the Queen's jewels. This is likely due to the fact that she is not in close proximity with the Queen like Middleton, and will probably never have the privilege. Meghan's relocation to Canada will give her a lack of need for the luxurious jewels, especially now that she won't be attending royal events.
5. Meghan Will Likely Not Wear a Tiara Again

For the same reason, Meghan will also likely not be spotted wearing a tiara any time soon. In fact, Meghan has only been seen wearing a tiara once, which was on her wedding day back in 2018.
Even though Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry made her his princess, her title will be dropped after the official exit in April. Even if non-princesses still wear tiaras, they likely wouldn't wear one outside of a royal event.
6. No More Royal Babies

Even though Archie was born under royal status, any future children that Meghan and Harry decide to have together will not be considered 'royal babies.' They will also not receive the official royal memorabilia marking their birth, as Archie did.
Archie's potential future siblings will not receive any royal celebrations or titles.
7. End of Protection from Paparazzi

Now that Harry and Meghan have moved to North America, the Canadain press will be able to have free rein to snap shots of the couple during their outings.
According to Vanity Fair, British news outlets have an agreement with Buckingham Palace that ensures that paparazzi photos of the royal family will not be used. This agreement does not exist in Vancouver, the couple's new residence.
Because they will soon no longer have alliances to the royal family, Harry and Meghan's private life will no longer have the royal level of privacy.
8. No More Royal Tours

Harry and Meghan have been previously seen in places such as South Africa, but world travel trips will no longer be funded by the Queen. Any traveling that Harry and Meghan now want to do will have to come out of their own personal budget.
